Karyn was heading to her next class when Julie Meshida came up to her. That was a bit odd. She and Julie weren't friends, but Julie was generally friendly.
"Do you have a minute?" She asked.
"Sure...what for?" Karyn said. She wondered if it was a coincidence that Jon had been talking about her, and now she'd shown up.
"Jon Madison is your best friend...right?" She asked.
"Yeah? What about him?"
"Is he...dating anyone?" she asked.
Karyn blinked. "What? No. What?"
"You wouldn't tell him...right?"
"Do you tell your friends everything?" Karyn asked.
"We have a few classes together...and he was watching me, and when I called him out on it...he got really flustered...I was just wondering..."
She thinks he was...great..how do I tell her he was watching her because he made a wish. Karyn thought. "He didn't say anything to me," Karyn said honestly. "Are you sure it wasn't something else?"
"Maybe," Julie said, thoughtfully. "Thanks...Maybe it was my imagination. I'd better get inside. My parents would freak out if they thought I wasn't focused on school.." She hurried off.
Karyn joined her in class. Julie was one of the top students in the grade. She was also popular with a lot of extra-curricular activities...but she wasn't like some of the other popular kids who had wild parties and fooled around. In fact, she distanced herself from the kids who did. Karyn remembered her slapping Steve Farber for some comment he made. Karyn paused, wondering if that really happened. Whatever Jon had gotten into, it was making her doubt reality. That couldn't be good.
