His second choice was Book of Ancient Secrets. That was actually pretty good. He could now inscribe magical rituals into his Book of Shadows. Xavier would be able to choose two 1st-level spells that have the ritual tag from any class's spell list. The spells did not need to be from the same spell list either. The spells appeared in the book and did not count against the number of spells he could remember. With his Book of Shadows in hand, he could cast the chosen spells as rituals. That did not take up any spell slots. It did take 10 minutes longer to cast though. Xavier could not cast the spells except as rituals, unless he had learned them by some other means. He now also could cast a warlock spell you know as a ritual if it had the ritual tag. On his future adventures, he could add other ritual spells to his Book of Shadows. When he found such a spell, he could add it to the book if the spell's level is equal to or less than half his warlock level (rounded up) and if he could spare the time to transcribe the spell. For each level of the spell, a transcription process takes 2 hours and costs 50 lin for ink.
Xavier wasted no time scrawling in his Book of Shadows. He already knew exactly what spells he wanted. He picked Alarm and Identify. Those were another 2 wizard spells. Although he was not born with the needed mana to be a wizard, he had found a way to become one through the back door. He knew a total of 7 spells and 5 cantrips. He had said early that one had to master 2 spells of 2nd level or higher to be accepted into the Mage's Guild. Xavier had mentioned that Robal City was where the closest branch was stationed. If he got there and was accepted, he would be able to become the mage that he always wanted. It would also give him the right to claim his place in his maternal lineage of wizards and witches. I approached him and said "You know, you might need an escort to get to Robal City. How about we go there together? We also have been training and copying spells like crazy." He looked at me with sparkles in his eyes. "Really? When can we go!?" he asked. I shrugged my shoulders. "Give us a week. We just came back from our break." He just nodded his head.
Due to Xavier being human, he accepted that. He was going to need to pack his things and make his arrangements for the journey. We would also need to make all our preparations. There were 16 of us now. Taking myself out of the picture, there were 15 incubi in the club. I could see myself splitting us down the middle. 8 would go one week, the next week would be the others. A party was 6, so 2 of them would be out of my direct control. I did not know what could happen if they were let loose in a new city. I could make it 3 weeks with 5 going with me every other week. It would be a full party each time and we would only need to babysit Xavier on the first trip. That seemed to be a good idea. Since Xavier was going on the big journey, Marantyz would be coming along as well. He was his patron. I had 4 other slots for the party. You could never go wrong with Nyrear, Grulilan, Zaranarax and Vohrear. Ororin could have the second trip. Larry was her husband now. He should have ample time to know she was leaving. At least, that was the big excuse I would be using on her if Ororin asked me.
