"I read all my books, dear. Including the old ones...Old ones with old magic in them. And getting a sample of your hair was rather easy..."
"What are you talking about?" Sarah said. Suddenly, a massive headache came on. She closed her eyes against the pain.
"I found a spellbook...And a spell...that can exchange fates. So...I picked yours...A girl born with a silver spoon in her mouth...who doesn't know how good she has things..."
The headache subsided, and Sarah opened her eyes again. Her vision was blurry, and she could only see the outline of the woman in front of her. "Stop this at once..." Sarah said.
"At once....how formal...."
"If you don't, Rosemary, I'm going to..." Sarah trailed off.
The blurry form moved closer, and slipped something onto her face. Suddenly, the world came back into focus.
"I haven't been able to see without my glasses since I was ten." Sarah tried to take them off, but as she did, the world went blurry again, so she kept them on.
"So, you are just going to take my life?"
"Not your life exactly...your fate. It is still my life. Just...your position in the universe. Where you fit in...That's why you are the one wearing glasses now. You can't fit a square peg in a round hole without some...adjustments."
"Rosemary McKay...if you don't stop this at once, I'm going to..g..." Sarah trailed off. "Wait...who is Rosemary McKay?"
"Me," the librarian said.
"But your name is Finch..."
"McKay is my maiden name."
"But how did I know it?" Sarah asked. "You are not going to get away with this..."
Rosemary rolled her eyes. "Okay, boomer." She paused. "Wait...what does that mean?"
