Biff had made Jon think he was heading home. However, instead of heading home, he headed off in another direction. He liked the team idea, but he wasn't yet ready to give up on finding his brother that night.
He tried to find any signs of the black vehicles. There was only so far he could go and search. He turned a corner, and was blinded by the lights of a vehicle and then...
He woke up in his bed, feeling like he'd had a very unsettling dream...that he couldn't quite remember. He showered, got dressed, and headed down to breakfast. His mom had food on the table, and his sister was sitting there, drinking a protein shake. He blinked. Something felt wrong about that.
But his mother didn't seem to think so, and Zoe was always so competitive. He was Captain of the Football Team, but she was younger and was a star player. She was up running before breakfast He felt confused. He knew so much about her, but part of him was certain he didn't have a sister at all. What happened last night? He asked himself.
"Earth to Biff," Zoe said. "Can you give me a ride to school or not?"
"Umm...sure," he said.
"Is something wrong, dear?" their mother asked.
"Just..had a weird dream and couldn't get back to bed," he covered.
"Well, snap out of it," Zoe said. "You know what Dad would say...work through it."
"Where is Dad, anyway?" Biff could really use some advice on this...if he could explain it.
"Oh, he had an early meeting," her mother said.
"Stop acting like a zombie and finish eating so we won't be late.."
Biff paused. "Do I have a girlfriend?" He asked his sister suddenly.
She looked like she was going to smack him on the side of the head. "You dated like ten girls this year..." She took a breath, as if calming herself. "Seriously...are you all right?"
Biff pushed the weird thoughts out of his mind. He didn't want people to think he was crazy. And even though part of him was insisting that this wasn't his sister, that was nuts... "Yeah..." He lied.
He finished his meal and they headed out to the car. "So, what was this weird dream about?" Zoe asked.
"Huh?"
"You said you had one."
"Can't remember it clearly," Biff said. "I mean...you were there...Jon Madison...some other people...I was looking for something and so was he...we were chasing..."
"Who's Jon Madison?" Zoe asked.
"He's in some of my classes. He's kind of forgettable, but he's always hanging around with Karyn Black. You know...she's the one who wears that green thing all the time..." Biff paused, thinking how much hotter Karyn would be if she got some new clothes.
"I'm not sure I've noticed her. You like her then?" Zoe asked.
"What? No..."
"Look, Biff...you ask me about a girlfriend, you have dreams about a guy and you describe him as always hanging around with a girl...So, maybe it's about the girl..."
He paused. "Me...and Karyn Black..." He thought about her...imagining her in a sexy outfit...something about that seemed familiar. "Maybe," he conceded.
He pulled into the school parking lot. "I have practice after school, so you're on your own getting home unless you wait around."
"Thanks for the lift," Zoe said, grabbing her bag and getting out.
Biff sat there, then finally decided him having a fantasy about Karyn Black made a lot more sense than some of the fragments of what he remembered. He headed into the school.
