Jon headed to his room to grab the stone. Things looked different upstairs as well...the paint in the hallway was a different neutral shade...as if someone different had picked it. He grabbed the stone, hoping to end this nightmare, and wished his Mom and Zoe would swap lives. They'd already swapped, and he hadn't wished that...so...he should be able to wish it. Nothing. He tried again, with different wording. No result. He needed to think about this more, to avoid making things worse. He hid the stone away again.
Looking out the window, he saw a black mid-sized vehicle pull into the driveway. A few seconds later, Zoe got out. He frowned again. Mom owned a white sedan.
He started making notes in his mind. If Zoe and Mom swapped...then Zoe is 38, and Mom is 14. But she dresses differently than Mom, she picked out different stuff for the house I guess...Mom isn't a Goth...I need to talk to someone...maybe Karyn can come over.
He didn't notice Zoe getting Mikey out of the car and coming inside, or he would have noticed something else that was different.
A short while later, Zoe opened the door. "Dinner's ready." She said.
He sighed, took a deep breath, and followed her. When he got to the table, he froze up again. Mikey was sitting there...but he was...younger. Mikey was ten...but this Mikey looked to be six or seven.
"You still look pale," Zoe said, concerned as he sat down.
