When Sarah woke up on Monday, she immediately reached for her phone to check her messages. Several from Melissa...none from Biff since they texted good night... Her parents had been at some charity function last night, which probably meant her mother would be still sound asleep until long after she left for school.
All in all, it was an average day for Sarah. It didn't occur to Sarah that it might be anything else. Everything was as she expected it to be...until after school. She was wandering across the yard followed by her usual entourage. Across the way, a teenage boy and girl were sitting on the half wall separating the yard from the parking lot. She didn't pay much attention to them either.
She passed through the parking lot, heading toward Biff's car, where she expected a ride home. Suddenly she shivered, feeling as if a freezing wind had passed over her. She stopped moving, around, then down at herself. The expression on her face was confusion, or perhaps shock.
