Jon grabbed his head in shock. "What have I done?" he said aloud, still hearing the punk rock music coming from Karyn's car, though now much further away. "I have to fix this. I can't let my mom stay like this." Really, he wanted to reverse the whole thing and return Karyn to normal, but he knew how the stone worked. Wishes couldn't be reversed. But they could be reinterpreted. He wished for all the girls in the world to be changed, but while his mom was female (obviously) and could be considered a girl (technically), Jon thought that she was more likely considered to be a woman than a girl.
So with that, he grabbed the stone from his bedroom and made a wish.
"I wish that when I said 'all the girls' in my previous wish, I meant females no older than ... uh ... 25," he said, figuring that was right around when females were thought of as women more than girls. The stone glowed, granting his wish.
But he still had to wonder how his previous wish could be granted in the first place. After all, the stone had a range. Wishing for the entire planet to change shouldn't have worked, but apparently it did. What Jon didn't know was that everyone inside the stone's range believed that every female was into punk rock music, even though outside the stone's range, no one had been changed. In town, it was like it was a completely different reality, with never-ending evidence that the world outside town was just as Jon wished, but if anyone left town, they'd see that the world did not match what they thought it was. Now, at least, females older than 25 were no longer part of the punk lifestyle. It was bad enough seeing his mother all punked out. He didn't want to imagine other older females the same way - teachers, nuns, grandmothers.
Now he had to think up some kind of fix for what happened to Karyn.
