Lakeview was a town in flux, as each new reversal of roles reordered reality. The original Jon had truly made a wish with consequences beyond what he could have anticipated, not realizing how big the physical changes accompanying their new roles would be, and not realizing his estranged father, himself, or his aunt Rachel would be caught up in the magic. However, even while a new Gibson family was taking shape, six other reversals were brewing, each centered on someone one of the Gibson's knew.
Case in point, at the mall, Biff Meadows was sitting bored in the food court; he'd been dragged along with his girl friend, Sarah, having to carry her bags and nod along as she tried on clothes. Don't get him wrong, Biff was a red blooded guy and loved the way Sarah looked in those clothes, but he wished he could skip out on the outfit acquisition process. Most of the time Sarah would just go with her cheerleader friends or whatever, but she'd asked him to come along today and he couldn't come up with an excuse in time.
Biff was a sandy blond haired stud, not quite as big as his linebackers, but way more built than Jon had been. He wore his green and blue letterman jacket over a white tee shirt and blue jeans, leaning back against a picnic table, his legs spread wide, a bit oblivious to how much space he was taking up in the busy food court. Sarah had needed to dash off to the bathroom, so he was left watching her purchases, which were piled up on the table behind him.
Biff and Sarah had an odd relationship. On one level it made sense, the quarterback and the head cheerleader, but honestly their personalities didn't really mesh that well. The couple was mostly based on purely physical attraction and mutual social benefit. For Sarah, Biff was a useful means of cementing her own popularity, and for Biff he saw Sarah as something of a prize he deserved simply for being a football star. It was pretty likely the couple wouldn't last past High School, if they made it that far, but for the moment they were going relatively strong, making out behind the bleachers after practice and being the frontrunners for winning Homecoming King and Queen.
At least, that was the case until another mall patron tried to step around Biff, saying "excuse me..."
Earlier, before the reversals began, Mikey had been at his best friend Trevor's hanging out and playing videogames. It wasn't that uncommon to find the two ten year old friends palling around on any given afternoon or weekend, having been thick as thieves since they were toddlers. However, while Mikey had stepped to the bathroom, things had already begun to change as his mothers and sisters underwent their reversals, creating a new Gibson family.
Outwardly there wasn't a huge change in Mikey, except perhaps that his clothes became a bit more expensive as Linda became a successful model and Roxie rejoined the family as a high priced real estate agent. Then again, with boy clothes there wasn't a huge gulf between Walmart and the fancier labels, so it wasn't a huge shift. The larger changes were more mental than physical for Mikey. Mikey had been a rambunctious kid, always bursting with energy and occasionally getting into trouble, but that was shifting. With Jon and Roger shifting into Juniper and Roxie, Mikey was now the only boy in a house of women and that had the effect of curbing some of his wildness. Zoe shifting into the consummate big sister, and Roxie doing a massive 180 as a parent also meant he was coming from a more nurturing household.
However the larger shift was in his relationship with Trevor, since he'd now attended a nicer daycare than the one they'd met at in the original reality. The pair were still friendly, but no longer best friends, making Mikey less familiar with the layout of the house as he wandered back from the bathroom. This was of course what led him to taking a wrong turn and bumping into someone, having just a moment to lock eyes before the magic activated.
