Mackenzie was giggling at a funny text from Kim as she descended the stairs to head towards the dining room. She'd been texting the older girl ever since she got home a couple of hours ago, and found herself becoming more and more enamored with her. As Jon her attraction towards the older Black sister had been primarily surface level due to his inability to really initiate or carry on a conversation with her, but Mack had no such problem, and found herself totally on the same wavelength, delighting in each new discovery as the two got to know one another a bit better. They obviously weren't getting too deep right away, keeping things light and flirty for the most part, but Mackenzie felt a real connection starting to develop.

That wasn't to say the physical attraction had in any way gone away; Mackenzie wasn't sure what she wanted more, her hands on Kimberly's breasts, or Kimberly's on her own, but either way the mere thought brought a smile to her face.

"Someone's looking happy after her first day," Chi-Won Choi, her dad, said as she walked into the room. He was wearing a loose cream button up over a black tee, paired with tan slacks, looking relaxed as he set a plate of sizzling salmon on the table. Mackenzie was loath to admit it, but her dad was a handsome dude. She wasn't complaining about the good genetics by any means, but it had been awkward that one of her friends, Jin, back in Sydney obviously had a crush on him. It wasn't nearly as bad as the loads of people, including some of her new peers, who had the hots for her mom, but she supposed that was the price you pay for being in the public eye. She wondered in passing if any of the viewers of the KS Chronicles would get a crush on her.

"Maybe it wasn't terrible," Mackenzie joked as she took her seat at the table. From her Mackenzie memories she knew she'd been a bit nervous about her first day at school in America, but things had gone really well even if she wasn't judging by the low standards of her time as Jon. That said she was touched and salivating to see her dad had made her favorite meal grilled spicy salmon with rice, pickled daikon and seasoned bean sprouts, for her first day.

Chi-Won stepped over to her and gave her a kiss on the forehead, "I'm glad things went well, Moxie. I want to hear all about once your mom comes back down." Mackenzie rolled her eyes fondly at the nickname; it was based on her mispronouncing her own name when she was very little, and something she only let her mum and dad get away with calling her.

Speaking of her mother, Charlotte Choi then stepped into the room, her hair still wet from the shower. She'd changed out of her work clothes, and was wearing a comfortable pair of purple yoga pants and a midriff baring teal tank top. It was a noticeably more casual look than what she'd worn that morning before going in for her broadcast, but Kenzie privately thought her mum was beautiful either way. She loved seeing the private sides of her parents, the lovable goofball beneath the cool record producer, and the cuddly mama bear behind the sparkling sports caster; with how well known her folks were, she really cherished the side of them that was just for her. Charlotte gave Mackenzie a hug from behind, before stepping over to kiss Chi-Won, smiling contentedly to see she could still make her husband blush.

After that the family sat and enjoyed dinner together, telling each other all about their days. Since it was Mackenzie's first day, she was the center of attention, and she felt like she was giving a play by play of the whole day, with a few careful edits here and there; as much as she loved her folks, she couldn't exactly go into the weird observations she only made because of her Jon memories, but other than that she was surprisingly thorough. It was something she never could have imagined doing as Jon, who didn't have the best relationship with Linda or Zoe, but with Charlotte and Chi-Won it felt totally natural. Perhaps emblematic of that, she could could probably count on two hands the number of times the Gibsons had had proper family meals since Jon's dad left, while it was a regular occurrence for the Chois. It was honestly really nice having a family invested in your life for a change.

"Sounds like you're really getting along with this Kimberly," Charlotte drawled, "I'm glad you're making 'friends'" so quickly. Mackenzie could hear the inverted commas around friends, and knew her mum was on to her crush on Kimberly, even if Mackenzie hadn't outright confirmed it. "Should I be getting my shovel talk ready?"

Mackenzie blushed, "We're just texting, mum."

Charlotte smiled knowingly, "Sure you are, darling."

"Don't tease her, sweetie," Chi-Won chided before turning to Mackenzie. "I totally understand, Moxie. Do you think your 'friend' would like to come to dinner this weekend? I'd love to meet her."

A cry of "Daaaaaaaaaaad," echoed through the house followed by three sets of laughter.
