Hey, Zelo! I hadn't heard of Student Transfer until now, I'll have to check it out!
But it looks like the earliest available version of Student Transfer was released in 2016, while the root branch for YAWYW was posted in 2000. The original author, Zach, is no longer active on Fiction Branches, and I don't think any of us even knows how to contact him, so the inspirations for YAWYW will remain a mystery. But it's entirely possible that the creators of Student Transfer used YAWYW as inspiration. Which would be really neat! Do you know a way to contact them to ask?
