He left the medallion after texting his daughter a picture and got to work, putting the medallion off until later.
John couldn't keep everything in this smaller place, so he took out all the stuff from Brad's box and put it on the bed, sorting out stuff he thought his son would want someday against stuff that was junk. He did the same with Sara's box. He then put the less important stuff in a box and labelled it "for the kids" The other box he put into a closet. His beers were empty, so he went back to the kitchen to get a couple more. On the way back to his bedroom, he saw the medallion on the floor. He decided to not go through his box, but move onto the ones from his parents. There were photo albums, lose photos and his father's ivy cap. It was a little small when he tried it on. His parents wedding rings were in an old Altoids tin. Nothing of his mother's was in there, to his relief. Last person he wanted to change into was his own mother. Finally, there were some souvenirs from his parent's travels, little figurines and knickknacks. The masquerade mask in there caught him by surprise. His parents never mentioned going to something like that. The figurines were put back into the box with the pictures. He would share the photos with his sister Judy, as she would get a kick out of them, and help identify the people he couldn't. The cap he put on his dresser. He took his parent's box and put it by the door, labeling it "for Judy" Whatever the kids or his sister didn't want, he would throw away or donate. He grabbed the rest of the six pack and sat down to watch an Doctor Jekyll and Ms Hyde.
He had finished the beers around the time Richard Jacks started to transform at dinner. Looking at the medallion, he decided what the heck, put it on and went into his bedroom. Looking at the stuff, he realized he didn't want to be either of his kids. He looked around the room and his eyes landed on the mask. Did it count as clothing? Only one way to find out figured John. He picked up the mask and touched it to the medallion, feeling a shock. He stood in the bedroom for several minutes holding the two items in contact for a few minutes and felt nothing. Dropping the mask and medallion on the bed, he went back to the kitchen to get a snack. Taking the leftover Thai food from the fridge, he walked to the microwave. After starting it, he heard a knock at the door. He turned off the microwave and answered the door. Sara was at his doorstep
"Dad?! Is that you?" asked Sara.
"Huh?" stammered John in a voice that wasn't his own.
