"Would you rather…" the purple giant began, "be foxes again, permanently, but in every other way, be able to do most things that humans can do, or be humans, but in appearance only, and instinctually act as foxes? I don't want to make this too easy a decision, so let's say, either way, you will age like a human for a 100 year or so lifespan, and you will keep your intelligence, mind, and memories as they are, because let's face it, mental changes are pointless in a sinister transformation. If the victim isn't the same person as before, that would just be killing them and creating a new life form from their biomass. And I don't have any problem with killing, but if I was doing that, I might as well just create a new life form from scratch and skip the killing part, and what would be the point in that? That would just be creating a new life form. They need to keep their minds as they were, so as to appreciate what has happened to them, so that they can truly experience their change, not just to be replaced by someone else that has always been that way for their entire short life and has nothing to compare it to."
"Ok. But I'm afraid, I don't really quite understand what I'm choosing between," Jon admitted.
"Very well, I will elaborate. In either case, you keep your intelligence and memories, your identity, your self, your soul, if you will. And you age as a human would. And you will feel like you are in the wrong body. If you are human, you will wish you were in a fox body, and if you are a fox, you will feel like you should have a human body. Though you will already feel that way for being sex-reversed, this will just add to that. As for the choice, if you choose to be foxes, not only will you keep your intelligence as it is, but you will be able to speak in a human voice, and will not, as before, be overwhelmingly driven by mating or other instincts, but rather will only experience the mating drive and other animal instincts to the human level. You will have a fox's body though, and will have a great deal of difficulty in doing certain tasks, like writing or typing, or just picking something up and carrying it. However, if you choose to be humans, though you will keep your intelligence, you will only be able to make yowling fox sounds, you will be comically bound to fox instincts, including periodically the overpowering mating drive you experienced earlier, and you will be bound as if by an obsessive-compulsive disorder to lick faces or gently bite to show affection, and to catch, kill and sometimes eat small animals without any preparation, to groom yourself with your tongue, and to never do your business in a toilet again. But I'll throw you a bone and say you can still clean yourself with toilet paper when you do your business as the exception, and you will not be compelled to just nonstop be licking people and hunting small animals in public, but you will lose control of these instincts occasionally, and when a small animal appears before you, perhaps you will be able to restrain the killing instinct, or perhaps not, but rather than thinking it is cute, you will be thinking about how tasty it looks. Though you will be unable to speak, you will have human intelligence and a human body though, so will have no difficulty in writing or typing to communicate."
"Well that's an easy decision to me," Jon said.
"Yeah, no kidding," Karyn agreed.
"Obviously," Jon began, and then Jon and Karyn said together, "I would rather be..."
