Because there were no initial leads to go on aside from looking over the body, that would have to wait. The corpse had not been returned yet. It was still being held in the royal hospital's morgue. Kenny was to go to see it with a group of his symbiote companions the next day. They apparently were all equipped with the skills to do a very competent investigation with it. How the skills they were programmed with correlated to murder investigations were beyond Kenny. He just had to leave that in the hands of the Doctor. Rachel looked at him and said "Do you want to call Father now? We have nothing better to do." Kenny nodded and they called him on a secure line. Their father was happy to hear from them. "Father, where did you first hear about the Sages and Devils?" Kenny asked. Their father frowned. "It shouldn't be something that you need to worry about. Just keep your heads down and a pair of pilots like you will go far all on your own." he said dismissively. "We were almost killed by people that report to the Sages. They think our friends are Devil spawn." There was a pause on the line.
Rachel and Kenny looked at each other. There was never a time that their father deliberately kept something from them. "Father, we need help. Anything you can tell us will be good. What are the Sages and Devils!?" "I've already told you what the Sages and Devils are. If they say that your friends are Devil spawn, it would be best to cut all ties with them immediately. I don't think they are naturally born people. Am I correct about that?" he said. It was absurd. Those were only supposed to be fantastical bedtime stories. Being told that they were all true was disconcerting and disorienting for the two siblings. "I want all the very best for you, but you have to make your own decisions. Whoever made the Devil spawn will be hunted by the Sages and their agents to the ends of the world. If you ally with them, they will start to target you. It's not an exaggeration to say that the Sages wield god like powers." he said. Kenny rubbed the bridge of his nose. "We understand Father. We can't abandon our friends. Is there anything you can do!?" he asked. "Maybe they'll back off if you give them the Devils."
That was something. Kenny thought back to when the original doctor and chief researcher disappeared because of the breeches of the facility. They must have been the heinous Devils that the Sages were hunting. They were the ones that created the symbiotes in the first place. The new ones that took their place must have been aligned with them. It was very likely they were Devils as well. It probably was why they were leaving the country. Kenny kept that to himself. He did not know whether or not they symbiotes would be willing to go against them. While they all had a penchant for being willful to the point of disobeying orders from time to time, that was a far cry from betraying the ones that created them. Kenny said "We will have to think on it. Thank you for the advice. We love you." "Yeah. We love you, Father." Rachel added. "Don't be afraid to reach out to the Sages if you need help. I love you all." their father said before they hung up the phone. Rachel looked at Ian. "Where's the Devils that made you guys?" she asked. Apparently, she had no qualms with having them declare their side.
