Myka didn't quite seem as out of sorts as she had been when they left the school. But she was certainly being nicer to everyone than usual. Sitting down at the kitchen table, the Gibsons started to eat their very early dinner - Lanie, Gena, and Zendaya having pizza and cokes, and Myka having a salad and picking at a single slice.
Officer Sandra Weaver, having been contacted by Principal Margot Smith earlier, finally arrived at the Gibson house to take Myka's statement about the sexual assault, not realizing that Myka had other things on her mind.
There was a knock on the door.
"Gena, could you get that please?" Lanie said.
"Ugh," Gena groaned, then dropped her last slice of pizza on her plate and headed to the door, expecting it to be Zendaya's friend. But what she didn't expect to see was an attractive female cop standing outside instead.
Before she'd had her odd clothing change, Sandra Weaver had ended up living in a small, crummy apartment, making mostly cash and arguing about how her boss exploited her and her coworkers. Had she been aware of it, she might have objectively thought it was a major improvement, but she didn't remember that life anymore. The new Sandra Weaver had gone into law enforcement, and while she was still an Officer, she made a good living, and might make Detective someday. Having come from a hard background, she was especially sympathetic to young people making mistakes.
"I'm Officer Weaver...are you..Myka?"
"Sheesh, no...that's my sister."
"Can I come in?" She asked.
"Officer, would you like a slice of pizza," Lanie said. "We were just eating."
"No, thank you," she said, sitting next to Myka. "I just came to talk to Myka about her experience. Did you remember any more about it?"
"You remembered who it was?"
Sandra paused. "Could you give us a few minutes?" She asked everyone else in the room. They nodded. Sandra pulled out a digital recorder and started it. "Who was it?"
Myka nodded. "I was flirting with Steve, I guess. Steve Farber. We went to make out in the janitor's closet...he started going too far too fast. I started telling him no...and he said he was missing class for this, and told me to get my fucking clothes off...and to stop being such a bitch..." She paused. She was Myka now, and felt like a young woman...Zendaya's wish had just meant the kinder and gentler elements of Mikey's personality were dominant. That didn't mean the more selfish parts weren't there too.
"Look, Myka...it isn't your fault."
"I didn't say I thought it was my fault," Myka protested.
"Myka...if a man doesn't know how to react when someone says no, and loses it...that is not the woman's fault," she said. "Maybe you egged this boy on...but if there are no consequences now...there will never be for him."
Myka had bigger problems. Also...for all she knew, Steve might not be Steve-like for much longer. "
