A moment later, the school nurse walked into the room, dressed in pink-colored scrubs. A stethoscope hung around her neck. "Hey there, hun. What seems to be the problem?"
Lanie pulled the nurse aside and talked to her in a low voice, causing the nurse's eyes to grow wide. The teacher then turned back towards Myka, saying "I'll go get those clothes for you. Don't worry. Everything will be alright." She then left the room.
The nurse came back to Myka and placed her hand on hers, sympathetically. "I'm so sorry you had to go through something like that. Boys can be the worst. I was once a teenager too, you know," the woman said, looking to be in her early 30's. "All I can say is that things will get better. It seems like boys will always be boys, but some do grow up. Just give it time."
"Thanks for the advice, uh ..." Myka said, not knowing the woman's name.
"Nurse Brant," she said with a pleasant smile. "But you can call me Tammy, if you want."
Myka's eyes went wide. Brant? That was the last name of one of Jon's friends. Tim Brant, now that Myka thought about it. This nurse used to be Tim Brant! Now he/she was the school nurse?! What happened to the original nurse?
"Now, let's get you checked out," the woman said, pleasantly. There was no indication that she had ever been a teenage boy. But Myka had first-hand experience seeing things like this before. Like Jon becoming Gena, and, obviously, herself.
