Kyla didn't know this woman, but she looked like a mess. Disheveled clothing, unkempt hair, smeared make-up, and she wasn't sure, but it seemed like she had one or two bruises, especially on her legs. Bethany's appearance was all thanks to the tumble she took at that gas station restroom, when she got startled by that strange flash of light. The trek home didn't help either, as she opted to go shoe-less, not wanting to walk in stripper heels the entire way.
Likewise, Bethany didn't know this girl. She knew that her daughter Karyn only had one female friend - Zendaya Gibson - and this girl was definitely not her. So who was she and what was she doing in her house, especially at this time of day, when she should be in school?
Kyla snapped out of it and ran past the out-of-sorts woman.
"Hey, what were you doing in there?" Bethany called out, but Kyla turned a corner and was gone. She thought about calling the police, but stopped. Something about getting help from cops irritated her, for some reason. But as she saw it, it didn't look like Kyla was doing anything bad, other than trespassing, and she at least made it easier for Bethany to get into her own house. Forgive and forget, she supposed.

Elizabeth Thompson (Mrs. Thompson to her students) asked her class if they had seen Kyla that day. Some had, including Lenore Drullers (she preferred to be called Lenni though, and she hated her last name - it sounded so ... ick). While Lenni wasn't sure where the nerd girl was right now, she decided to fabricate the idea that Kyla had skipped class (which was technically true, but not intentional), to get back at her from earlier, when she almost got her in trouble with Miss Wright. The last thing a girl like her needed was to spend time in detention.
Miss Thompson shook her head, feeling so disappointed about Kyla. She never thought that a girl like her would be so irresponsible.
Lenni grinned, feeling good about what she did.
