With that, Simon turned and left Margot's office in a huff. It wasn't until he was back in the main office that he realized what he had done. He wasn't sure if he was more dismayed or relieved. After all, he wouldn't have to constantly track down troublemakers like that Sabrina girl or any of her deviant friends. He was free. Free to do whatever the hell he wanted. He didn't notice a tinge of color appearing at the edge of his hair.
Meanwhile, Margot Smith exited her office a few moments after Simon had. Stephanie Wright was still there, talking to Nadine Ferguson quietly. "It seems that we have an opening for an assistant principal," she said. "I'm going to be considering internal applicants before I consider looking outside. After the last candidate, I"d rather have a proven member of my team than someone who I only know on paper."
"What exactly are you looking for?" Stephanie asked, curiously.
"I'm not looking for a warden, but someone who can treat them fairly while still ensuring discipline around here. And someone who doesn't agree with me all the time, but shares a commitment to the values school is supposed to teach young people. And someone who won't go off the deep end." She paused. "Why, dear...are you thinking of applying?"
Stephanie paused. She wasn't sure. "I'll think about it," she said.
Nearby, Nadine was also thinking about it, despite her youth. Teaching values to young people, ensuring discipline. It sounded perfect for her.
"Well, I think you might be suited for it, Stephanie, though I'd be sad to lose you in the classroom. I'm going to post it tomorrow...and I'm not going to rush into a decision. There are a lot of fine educators at this school I think would do a good job, but I let myself be pushed into hiring the wrong candidate once..."
She nodded. Stephanie would want to talk it over with her family anyway.
Meanwhile, Jay Duncan had left after a lecture from another individual pushing their opinion on him. He'd heard enough lectures when he'd been a student...he didn't need to hear one now.
