Karyn sat in the English class, absorbing as much of the material as her addled mind would allow. But her attention kept turning to other things.
The world was different from the one that had existed an hour before, but Karyn wasn't sure what all the changed were, or how the ripple effects shook out. It seemed like Jon was still her friend, but he felt more distant than she was used to. Buffy seemed to love her, but Karyn had no memories of that friendship.
And Sarah. How did Sarah fit into this reality? She had the stone, Karyn reminded herself, so she could fit into it however she chose.
Karyn dwelled on that last thought for quite a while.
As class drew to a close, one final, chilling thought entered Karyn's head: when she had been Sarah, she had still retained all her memories as Karyn, had been planning to use them against Jon.
Did this new Sarah have Jon's memories? Was she using them as well?
