Adam looked at her prison.
A plastic bowl... a simple plastic bowl, keeping her inside like she were a mouse or a pet. it was a pretty simple thing for her five year old sister to confine her in, and was starting to get distinctly uncomfortable. She tried to stay calm though. It wasn't as if she was in immediate danger. Her mother should be downstairs and help once she realised she wasn't around... though how to explain this would be another bridge to cross. It would just take a bit of time...all she had was this silly dress, her little tiara and of course, the magic wand. One would think the wand would be more useful than it actually was...
"Get me out of here!" she said to the wand as she pointed it at the hazy plastic surface expecting a laser beam or something.
It gave a little glow as she held it but... nothing else.
"How am I supposed to get out of here!" She could almost hear the disapproving tone of that 'fairy queen' person ringing in her ears. No- it was... just her imagination. Once she explained she was not one of her 'subjects' and just transformed into this, everything should work out. She decided she could try one more thing. She pushed herself back, walking backwards (on her cute little legs wrapped in pink stockings) until she was as far back as possible to the bowl. She then ran on her bare feet forward with all her might. "Ahhh!" she screamed and... 'bounced' off the wall.
The plastic bowl gave a little push forward, about an inch or so. It was not much, but if she could just push the bowl to the edge of the table? But if she did that, she would just.. fall. Possibly to her death, given how high the table was now to her. Rubbing her sore body, she realised this was an incredibly bad idea. Her attempt at freedom however caught the attention of Alice. She started to wonder over to her with her dolls in hand.
"Are you gonna make more magic now?" She asked with very innocent eyes.
"Um... If you let me out I will? Look, I promise I won't fly away, I have no wings see?" she gestured to her back. "So... I can't really fly away."
"Maybe you're hidin' em?" Alice said. "Let me see!" Her large eyes filled the plastic bowl looking at her new 'toy'.
"I- I'm not taking my clothes off!" the little woman shouted in a huff. Sure she didn't like wearing a dress, but it was all she had at the moment. Besides this was already weird enough then to begin to strip for her little sister's inspection.
"Let me see!" The little girl insisted with an excitable jump. "I'll let yo out then."
Adam wasn't sure this was a good idea. To Alice she was a toy, a little doll perhaps. She didn't even know what her body looked like nude as such, though was able to hazard a vague guess. Sighing she turned away from the girl, and started to life her dress to show her bare back and rather slender looking shoulders. There was nothing on her back, certainly not wings. The skin looking quite smooth much to Alice's inspection.
This didn't really satisfy the little girl though. "If you are a fairy how come you don't got wings?"
Adam didn't immediately respond to the question. She was occupied with looking at at her own breasts. She had turned away from his sister to show her back, but looking down at those mounds on her front she was dealing with her own revelation. She quickly pulled her dress back down, her new breasts giving a bit of a bounce forcing a cringe on her face as she turned back to face Alice. When will mom or dad come back!? "I- just haven't earned them... I guess. I'm a.. new fairy." Being honest was probably the only thing she could be to her little sister.
"So you can't fly... But you might use magic an' disappear. I always wanted a magic friend, but they go away when I wake up," she said staring at her like she was going to be her favourite play thing. "Mom and dad get me anythin' I want but they say a real fairy ain't real. I knew you was though! I want to have you for real!"
Adam pressed her hands onto the plastic bowl. Maybe she could reason with her? "If I could disappear, wouldn't I have done so already? Besides... you can't really make friends like this. It's not like you, I know you. Look, I promise I wont disappear, alright? You're my sis... uh..."
Alice looked at her curiously. " and you'll do magic for me? Make my toys move an' be alive with your wand?"
"I- suppose I can try," she said glancing at her wand. "Just don't be mad if it doesn't work."
"Yay!" The girl looked with glee as she took out the pink power ranger. "This one. It's my favourite."
Adam looked taken aback. "Why do you like that one most?"
"'Cause it was my brother's. An' I know she misses him. But he grew up an' she can't play no more. That's what she told me." she said while waving the action figure around. "Go Go Pow' pow' Ranger Ada'!"
Adam scratched her head. Was she acting like this because she didn't play much with her? Adam was no child psychologist but maybe this was a side of her sister she had never seen. She was well... a bit spoilt, but she did love her. They both just sort of... did their own thing. She waited for her to grow up to join his world. In a twisted sort of way, was Alice waiting for Adam to grow 'down'? It was a shocking moment of clarity to her, if that was indeed the case. But right now, the child just wanted to play.
"Alright.. I'll try. I'll get... Penny to move." she held out the wand, as Alice released her from the plastic prison. She drew a deep breath. She might as well make it look good, and tried to come up with an impromptu rhyme. She waved her wand over the toy, and Alice used her hand as a platform.
"Plastic toy of made of pink,
with joints that move and click,
And.. though this rhyme isn't very slick,"
Adam glanced at Alice who had her eyes closed in prayer. Goodness she really wanted this! She continued to wave her wand, and the little woman's 'princess' crown started to glow with its own light. It was as if it was drawing even greater powers from elsewhere, channelling it into the star-wand with incredible magical light.
Penny the Pink Ranger,
Move and protect all from danger!"
Alice watched amazed as her toy started to move. Its eyes changed inside the helmet, becoming for lack of a better word... living. A true living doll. "A-Alice?" she said in recognition. Somehow speaking, without need of a vocal chord in a chirpy female voice.
"You're alive!" The little girl squealed. "Oh thank you! Um... how did you know her name?" she asked glancing to the fairy.
"I.. named her," said Adam. "I'm your brother, that's why. I'm Adam!"
"Ohhhh," Alice said looking even more at the little woman. "Hehe. You're funny. But now we can all play together!"
Penny the Pink Ranger looked down at her body. "I'm... alive. Thank you. Of course I will play with you Alice," she said without any real objection. She knew her very purpose in life was to entertain a child, and would do so for as long as she could. That being, for as long as the magic allowed her.
"Can you make more of them alive?" Alice asked quickly. "I wanna take her to school!"
"Let's... let's just... stick to one first." Adam said quietly. She was staring in amazement at her wand. Somehow... somewhere, she got the distinct feeling creating life like this might be 'wrong'... or certainly against a rule or two. She wasn't sure how or why, but there was something very unsettling about what she had done. Given the power the Queen of the Fairies had over her...
she was very worried on what might happen if she encountered Her, before turning back to normal.
