The stone in Jamie's hand glowed, as her wish was granted.
Suddenly, she was back at the table inside...not so much to her surprise anymore, but to the surprise of her new friend.
"Baby, are you okay?" one of the boys asked, putting his arm around her.
Jamie blinked, and pushed the arm away...again. Her new friend, however, was dumbfounded. "What just happened?"
"What?" The boy asked her, withdrawing his hand from Jamie.
"I was talking to Jamie," she insisted. "Jamie, what just happened?"
Jamie looked nervous. "Can we talk alone for a moment?"
The two girls found a quiet corner.
"Is that my boyfriend?" Jamie asked her suddenly, looking back at the boy from a distance.
"What, no? He hits on you all the time," she said, then trailed off. "You...made a wish, and suddenly we were back at the table...and you're acting like...this isn't the first time your wish came true, is it?"
Jamie paused. "No," she admitted, softly. She didn't want to admit what she actually wished for. "I wished my life was different...and somehow, because of it, that girl...she was sitting at the table with her friends. Suddenly, I was sitting there. You weren't there."
The girl's eyes narrowed again. "You....have no idea who I am, do you?"
"No," Jamie admitted softly. "I...wasn't thinking about...what might happen. I have to fix this," she insisted. "I can't be responsible for turning some girl, even if she was a bitch, into..." she trailed off.
The other girl nodded. "You can trust me, Jamie," she said. "Besides, no one would believe me if I told them this. If I didn't see what I just..." she trailed off as she suddenly spotted the now former bitch behind Jamie.
Jamie whirled around to see what she saw. It was the same girl...but her dress and demeanor was totally different, again...and she was pregnant.
