Jamie Fitzpatrick was a high school age girl who had dropped out of school to support herself and her grandmother, who was her sole living relative. Her grandmother's illness had made her unable to work, and depleted their savings.
Together, they lived in a small one bedroom apartment in the bad part of town. Every day, Jamie took the bus to work at the McDonalds not far from the high school she had dropped out of the previous year.
It wasn't an ideal existence. Jamie wished her life was different, and now that she had this stone...it could be.
