Sarah scrolled through the list on the device's view screen. She wanted something extra special for Jon. A few seconds later she found one. It was the word DWEEB.
She looked over at Karyn, who was looking at her reflection in the window again. This time, though, she displayed a smile instead of a look of horror. She seemed to be checking herself out, as if increasingly pleased with how sexy she was.
"Karyn," Sarah said.
Karyn turned. "What?"
"What do you think of this?" she asked her, pointing at the view screen.
Karyn looked. "You are going to turn him into a dweeb? I mean...what's the difference?" She looked towards Jon, with a slight look of disgust on her face. Jon noticed that her expressions and body language were more like Sarah's now. Karyn thought that she was better than him. She was popular, he was not.
Sarah thought that she'd object to her plan to do anything to Jon. But Karyn hadn't. "I guess you had a lot more potential locked away than I thought," Sarah told her.
"Well, if you think that....why don't you let me zap the loser?" Karyn said.
"I think that's only fair," Sarah said. She was pleased to see that Karyn was now on her side.
She handed Karyn the device. Karyn displayed a smile, and aimed the device at Jon....then suddenly turned it, and fired at Sarah.
"What the hell?" Sarah said. "Why'd you do that?" She looked at her reflection in the same window Karyn had. Her makeup was gone...her hair was cut much shorter in an unflattering hairstyle...and her clothes were horrible...the colors didn't match her skin tone, they were loose and didn't flatter her figure...
"Getting rid of the competition. Did you think I was going to suddenly be your friend?" Karyn said, smiling evilly. "And with you out of the way...there's nothing stopping me from being the most popular girl in school. Just...look at you. Dweebs have like....zero social skills. And you look like you get dressed in the dark."
"Change me back," Sarah said, softly...her voice no longer full of contempt, no longer sounding sexy...she was starting to sound...afraid.
"You...popular? As if..." Karyn said. "I know you're a loser...and pretty soon you will too."
