Her eyes went wide when she saw herself. She wore a tight pink T-shirt (which showed off her cleavage) and a short white pleated miniskirt, high heels on her feet, and pink lipstick and nail polish. She wore a fair amount of make-up on her face, to make look more attractive.
She had become one of the "popular" girls. Like Sarah.
"No. I ... I can't be." She turned to Jon. "How could you do this? Why did you put the setting on this."
"I didn't. She must have accidentally selected it," Jon said. It was the truth. Sarah's hand must have brushed the view screen when she was looking it over, not even realizing that she was selecting a personality trait.
"What exactly did happen?" Sarah said, finally. "You're dressed like one of my friends." She looked down at the device in her hand. "What does this thing do?"
"It changes people's personalities," Karyn answered. "And soon I'm gonna like being this way. So, please Sarah," Karyn pleaded. "Please change me back. I don't want to be like you."
Sarah looked defensive. "What's wrong with me?"
"Well, for one, you're a bitch," Jon said.
"Don't talk to her like that," Karyn snapped. She put her hand over her mouth. "It's already happening," she said quietly, with a fair amount of shock.
Sarah looked down at the view screen. A single word was highlighted: POPULAR. She smiled. It really did work. "So, I can use this on anyone?"
"That's right," Karyn said.
