Orange did not like that I was intruding on their date. I asked her for her name. She giggled and said "Oops. My name is Stacy." I noticed that both of her pupils were augmented. She noticed and smiled. "I was born with brown eyes, but I went blind due to illness. I was able to get new ones that work much better than my human eyes did." Mason got out and dragged me by the arm. "Let him enjoy his date already! We have to go!" he snapped at me in annoyance. Stacy leaned closer to Orange and clung to her arm. It seemed she was concerned about the young man that appeared. What a shame. He was a really good guy. I let him take me away as I waved to them. Neither of them waved back. Orange leaned over and whispered something in her ear. I turned and walked inside the depot with Mason. There were no cabs in the large depot at the moment, which was a big surprise. We shared a very confused look. Usually, only the ones that worked at the cab depot used them for work or any official clan business. I was the one that ran it. We were not stingy about their use though.
There were others at the Red Grind that could use them too, but they were the ones that would rather be dancing or lounging around. All of the cabs were gone. Either we had some massive theft here, or more people were driving now than ever. A big mug of coffee breaking drew our attention to the dispatcher's booth on the far left end of the depot. There were some AEP units menacing the three human dispatchers on duty. The three currently there were paladins and were pretty angry. One of the young men had a hand on the hilt of his sword. His foot was also tapping on the ground angrily. "What's going on guys? Are you okay in here?" Mason asked as he stepped in the booth. He had been behind me. He then looked at the AEP units and said "What the hell? Who the hell are you guys!?" he pointed at them. They looked at each other and then at us. It did not look like they were hostile to us now. There was no way the humans in the booth would be able to take them on and win. The cyborgs were just too strong for any of them to handle. There were five of them at the moment.
I did not want to deal with them. Mason was not equipped for combat. He would be crushed if he tried. I just sighed and said "Did you guys take our cabs? They are all gone." One of the dispatcher's said "All of them said they wanted to go driving." "Even the ones at the Red Grind." I heard another one add bitterly. That just solved that mystery. "What do you want?" I asked. All of them walked forward and stared me and Mason down. They were 3 feet away. I shifted my eyes to the dispatchers. "I think you have more than deserved a break. Take the rest of the day off." They were quick to get up. They looked at me. One of them said "Are you sure? We can help with the... guests." I shook my head. It would just make things harder. "No. Paul and Brett are out. I will handle this for now. Go rest and come back in the morning." I said firmly. They left without another word about it. I waited until they were completely gone before looking back at the cyborgs. All of them were annoyed that they were being ignored. Especially for the sake of a bunch of humans. That was all their problem though.
