05-002 had Break locked down. He simply could not get close enough to use his organ. I did not know if Break could ultimately kill the enemy AEP unit or not, but it was definitely enough to give the others enough time to find the transmission hub. Once there, they could start trying to hack into it. I looked down the hallway and saw no one. It was going to be a giant hassle to find our way from there. We fought the hostile AEP unit together. They were no match for our onslaught and died. None of us had time. I took a moment to catch my breath. When I was really, I said "Let's go. We have to get you to the transmission hub." I started down the hallway. When we got to the end of the long hallway and made a few turns, we saw everything enveloped in a green glow. It was the hub. All that was there was a long metal bridge. At the end, the transmission hub was waiting. We crossed the bridge and saw that 05-003, 004 and 10-002 were already plugged in, sitting against it. They each were connected by a thin red wire. Paul went to roughly yank them out of the hub. It was Break that stopped him.
Paul just looked at the AEP unit. "What are you doing? They are hacking the transmission hub. We have to do something." "If you rip them out like that they will die. The hub might get damaged as well." Ers said. "So, we have no option but hope they fail to take the hub!? This sucks." I responded. With that being the case, all we could do was wait. If more enemies came, it was our job to kill them all and protect my allies. The bridge and stairwell were both empty. All of the chaos upstairs was working. It took them 10 minutes from the point Colton plugged in for everything to be plunged in darkness. The comforting green light was now gone. The oppressive red aura then filled the surroundings. I assumed it was the color for the Conqueror faction. I walked over, cursing them. I got no response. I looked at them and said "You alright? You won." They all could track me with their eyes. The problem was that the strain of hacking took all of their energy. They could not move a single muscle. I could not use my magic to give them energy. They were actually nanite constructs. Not humanoid creatures.
There was nothing Paul could do but laugh. The wires had receded back into their chest ports. I looked at our group. They were a group of 3. Just like the ones that had changed the transmission hub. "Okay. They had their big chance to hack it and succeed. They did not have enough with them to share the stain on their energy." I said after I got my shit together. Break nodded and opened his own chest port. He plugged into the hub and leaned against it on the floor. Code and Ers followed suit. The counter hack took over half an hour. Paul and I were guarding the area. The angry AEP units on the ground just glared at me. They were promising me a very gruesome murder with their eyes. When they were done, our allies slumped forward as well. The oppressive red aura was now gone. A few seconds later, the area was bathed in green light once more. It was the color for the Researcher faction. I walked over, praising them this time. I got no response. That was to be expected. "Paul, do you have an energy pack? Those work on the cyborgs." He smiled. "Good idea. Let's move them away."
