Before long, Jon and Zoe were sitting on the couch, looking through old photos. Grandma and Grampa...same. Dad, same...Then there was a picture of a 16 year old female Jon dressed in a denim jacket, with an obviously dated hairdo. Zoe giggled uncharacteristically at that. "Please tell me there are more of those..."
They flipped through a few more pages, Jon in a cap and gown for college graduation, Jon in a wedding dress, before getting to an obviously pregnant Jon, smiling at the camera. Then a picture of a tired looking Jon holding a baby in a hospital bed. Below it was a card of some kind, "It's a Girl." With the weight.
"I guess you skipped having a Jon," Zoe said.
"I suppose," Jon said, sighing a bit sadly, flipping to the next page. Baby Zoe in her high chair, baby Zoe in the park. "You were so cute..."
"And I'm not now?" Zoe joked.
"Of course...but...look at your chubby cheeks..." Jon flipped two or three pages and paused. "That is..different." On the next page, there was a picture of Jon again, wearing a cap and gown, holding a young Zoe. "Linda never went back to school," Jon said.
"Well, I guess you did," Zoe said. On the same page was a picture of Jon with some other women and their toddlers. There was a Happy Birthday Zoe cake.
"Something is off..." Jon said, frowning.
