Jen woke up in her sleeping bag. She'd had a bad dream. Something about Karyn. She rubbed her eyes with her six year-old hands, and looked around. The other girls were awake already, playing with the presents Sarah had gotten. But it seemed to Jen that there were more girls than last night. She looked more closely at the faces, and realized who the new addition was: Karyn!
Jen ran up to her friend. "When did you get here?"
"My mom dropped me off this morning."
Jen looked down at what Karyn was playing with: a Barbie doll, wearing a black pencil skirt and a white top. That meant something to Jen, but she couldn't figure out what.
Then the doll began to blur. Jen looked back up, but Karyn was blurry, too. Soon the entire room was just a grainy mix of colors, and then it was gone.
