The day went along pretty normally. Karyn got a few more leers than usual from Mr. Jaccobs in art class, but Mr. Jaccobs was a pretty big letch. Nobody else seemed to really act any differently towards her than they ever did. All her friends were still her friends.
But all her enemies were still her enemies.
Karyn and Jon were walking to their fourth period class from lunch when one of the football jocks, Steve Farber, came up from behind and shoved Karyn into Sarah, who was coming the other direction.
Words were exchanged. Voices were raised. Neither Sarah nor Karyn thought to blame Steve, who'd slunk back into the crowd and disappeared. Jon had a feeling of deja vu watching the two blondes face off, but couldn't quite figure out from where. Then a teacher came in and separated the two girls. It was a draw, like normal.
"But I thought I did something to Sarah last night," Jon thought. And then he realized that whatever he did had been in Karyn's dream, and that there was no reason for Sarah to react to it.
But it didn't have to stay that way.
