Retainers could be used as proxies for the clan for missions. They also could be used as bodyguards. Mio wanted to go to the city. The medicine she required was only produced there. We would be the ones to escort her and her daughter, Hinata, to the apothecary and back. We had to walk at a civilian's pace to get there. Mio was simply unable to use chakra. Once we got to the gate, Mio was hassled by a couple of lewd guards. As the daughter of a clan head, she endured the heckling nobly and refused to give in as they tried to reach towards her for a grope. Even without chakra and slower, she was still able to dance out of their lecherous grasps. Hinata moved in to take care of it, but both Keisuke and I went first. "Unhand Mio-sama, you perverted doorsmen!" I shouted as I stood between them. "You must want the wrath of the whole Kirume Clan to come down on you." Keisuke said with his eyes narrowed and his spear raised. They looked at us in shock. They quickly became professional and let us all in after a formal interview of our intentions. Mio and Hinata both thanked us a lot.

I told them to think nothing of it. It was our job. Although, they seemed really taken with us now. "Anyone would do the same thing if they had honor." I finished. Hinata smiled and said "The guards here are pigs. But those are the only ones that will let us in the city knowing who we are. The lords of the city have never like ninja and have actively kicked them out. Any ninja caught will be hanged. I usually have to sleep with them first before they let us in." She smiled just a bit wider and happily added "You saved us quite a bit of time. Usually, we don't have much time to visit the apothecary and get the medicine my mother needs before nightfall. That's when we definitely need to leave the city." I looked at Mio who looked resigned to this fate and indignity. Keisuke looked like he would explode. He pointed at the gates and hissed "Those guards were disgusting! You should never have to deal with that. We'll make sure neither Mio-sama or Hinata-san ever have to be messed with again." I nodded. It would help with the 10 mission quota. Mio smiled wide and said "I will count on you both then."

Hinata

Gin City was really pretty. I had been there in the early morning, but it was just a short visit to the barracks near the front gate. We had a really nice time as we were able to walk around without rushing. There was even a small common's park. It was lovely. When it was time for the appointment, we made our way to the apothecary. He was a mousy young man that lived alone. From what Mio and Hinata said he was decently skilled, but his demeanor made it hard for him to stand out among the flashier ones that could cater to better clientele. He looked totally devastated when he saw us. "I'm so sorry Mio-san! Hinata-san! The shipment has not come in yet. All I can do is mix you a dose for a week's worth of medicine! I'm really sorry." he said. Mio just smiled at him and said "It's okay. I'll take what you have now." He looked regretful and said "Of course Mio-san. Seeing you is a great inspiration, and it goes to show how resilient you are." He then got to work. I noticed the faint blush on his cheeks as he said that. "Can we expect the full dosage next week?" Mio asked. He nodded furiously.
