The cool new house didn't quite make up for losing his siblings. He went to his computer, a much nicer one then he'd had, and googled his parents and frowned.
His mother had worked for a law firm as an assistant and paralegal. According to his web search, she was currently an executive at a local company. Transdec Industries.
He looked it up, and recognized the building. It had been McMillan Tech Industries, after its founder, Sarah's dad. His father had always complained about that. That Richard McMillan knew nothing about technology. Jon's dad and several people he'd gone to college with had tried to start up a tech company. Plagued with management problems and out of money, they'd sold the company and its lone product for a song to Richard McMillan, who had become rich over it.
He googled Richard McMillan, and found he was now in a low managerial position at the same company. That would explain why Sarah lived in his house. He wasn't wealthy. And the Madisons were fairly well off, although his Dad had still died.
He went back to reading about his mother. Senior Vice-President, with two children...Jon and Michelle...he guessed that was the girl he met. Mom must have been too busy with her big job to have a third child. He wondered if Michelle was an alternate version of Mikey, his little brother. If so...where was Zoe? Had she simply ceased to exist? Or had she and Mikey combined to form this new sister?
