Kevin was rather excited about this field trip. It was in Mrs Heather’s class and they were going to explore a cave system. An actual cave! He was a rather average kid- almost teenager at twelve years of age. Others here were of similar age, some younger or older. The cave itself was rather recently discovered in the countryside… almost hidden in plain sight. From the side of a mountain and through some tunnels one eventually emerged into this large cave with an actual underground lake inside.
“Here you can see magma activity that once sealed this area off… note the stalagmites and stalactites… we all know the difference?” Nobody answered but the older teacher frowned. “And what is formed if they join together?“
“Columns” Jennifer piped eagerly.
“Indeed!”
Jennifer beamed a bit. She had long blonde hair … a typical girly girl. She was also really smart which made her have a reputation as a bit of a teacher pet. Kevin was always annoyed at her. He was kinda in her position before she came to the class, smart eager but she had smart parents and all the advantages that brought.
Though this could also be his friend Steven…
Steven was a rather ordinary student in terms of smarts. With short black hair and lightly tanned skin, he mostly just enjoyed playing video games. He had introduced Kevin to as many new games as he could. Though he was starting to put on a bit of weight, neglecting physical exercise. He want ‘too’ overweight but he was getting lazy and bored.
Jennifer smiled to Kevin. “You’re as eager to see rocks as much as me right? Maybe we can find some gold!”
“Heh,” Kevin groaned. Why was she trying to be friends anyway? Girls should stick to girls.
The class started to disperse into various activities.. of course they were told not to wonder off.
“Treasure hunting could be fun,” Steven nodded with a thought of rich and fame entering his mind. “Let’s have a little look around.”
Kevin sighed. His friend seemed to want to hang out with this nerdy girl… “yeah sure…”

There didn’t seem to be any tunnels in the underground cavern… but the three kids were rather persistent to go around the lake. It was there Jennifer saw something. “Do you see that? The wall shimmered for a second…”
“Shimmered?” Kevin frowned. “I didn’t see anything.”
“Probably a trick of the light.” The cave had a few glowing stones around the artificial lighting put up…
Jennifer however walked towards the wall staring at it… she reached to touch it- but vanished through the wall.
“What the heck?!” Steven gasped running with his friend Kevin to the same spot. Steven lost his balance and the two boys stumbled going through the wall…

“What happened…” Kevin groaned getting up. “Dude get off-“
Steven gulped. “Jenny?!” He called out.
Jennifer was standing and staring in awe..
The three kids found themselves in a strange new cavern. There were odd rocks here arranged in strange patterns… glowing. The walls looked odd with strange geometric designs etched on them. The wall behind them was see through on this side though…
“It’s a cloaking device!” Steven shouted. “They can’t see us but we can see them!” A small group walked past the wall not even batting an eye…
Jennifer looked at a broken stone. It had those weird geometric designs too. A soft glow inside the centre.
Kevin however got annoyed “don’t touch it!” He cautioned trying to take it out of her hand. There was an odd sensation as the two felt a weird.. tingle. It passed briefly.
“Hey I want to find one with gold in it!” Steven said looking around the various strange round stones. He poked one- and felt an odd zap. “Ow.”
Jennifer noted that the light inside the stones seem to vanish when touched. She tried to poke another stone … but the light stayed. “Huh.. weird… I wonder who made these?”
Kevin looked at a small pedestal. It had a concave surface.. “it looks like the stones fit in this?” He said.
Suddenly something very strange happened… it was like the room ‘moved’ but didn’t take them with them. The three were suddenly standing in the cave again.
“There you kids are!” Sighed the teacher. “Come on the bus is leaving soon.”
