In that moment Sarah and Biff were driving by, in that moment Zoe was in her room above the garage listening to heavy metal music, but in the moment after Zoe was on her way downstairs to the garage, drumsticks in hand. Zoe opened the door to the garage to find Jon and Karyn at it again.
"I don't know how to play this...I don't want to be in your ba..." The door opened and Zoe walked through.
"Not again guys, we aren't Fleetwood" was Zoe's annoyed response to what she saw as she walked towards the back of the room and sat down at the drumkit which had magically appeared. Just a Snare and a high hat and a crash, that looked naked without a bass drum.
"That's our drummer!' Jon said with shock, but Zoe read it as "yep, that's how you are"
After the flash Biffs car changed from passing by the house, to suddenly backing into the driveway, which of course was noticed by everyone. Zoe was visibly excited, while Karyn and Jon were equally confused and then surprised as Sarah got out of the cab.
"Oh good, you're all ready."
Zoe ran up to Sarah with the excitement of a puppy. "Did you bring it?"
Sarah responded with the patience and love of an older sister, not something anyone in the room had ever seen before.
"Of course I did, and....one more thing."
Biff came around from the back of the car with a kick drum in his massive paws.
"Biff has agreed to be our 'roadie' isn't that sweet!"
Karyn and Jon were swimming in a torrent of dumbfoundedness, and Biff seemed to be underwhelmed by his position as well, but Zoe and Sarah seemed equally pumped about the idea to the point were they high fived.
Biff put the drum down in front of the kit, which had on it in large red letters the words " My Wild Romance"
"My Wild Romance?" Karyn read.
Sarah turned to them "yeah that's what we all agreed on for the band name right?"
Zoe added "too late to change it now" as she adjusted everything into position.
Jon deciding to play along just said "yeah, it's great"
'Cool, well, lets do a couple." Sarah said with excitement in her voice.
"Sure," Jon responded but didn't move.
Sarah and Zoe just looked at Jon expectantly.
"Oh, yeah...I guess I need to grab my..." Jon panicked he didn't know how to play anything and he couldn't sing and he didn't like being on stage. " I just need to go and get my instrument from upstairs" as he ran through the door and closing it, made the wish "I wish I could play...(his mind reeled...what was a low key instrument...) Bass!" and suddenly there was a bass guitar in his hands.
"Got it!" Jon reassured as he came back into the room. Karyn on keyboards, Zoe on drums, him on bass and Sarah on vocals...wait...where was the guitar? There was no time for answer as drumsticks tapping interrupted his thoughts.
Suddenly they were playing, his fingers knowing what to do, and they all played a song. There had been three wishes made so far but this was the most magically experience of the whole day for him, it was like being telepathic, it was like knowing the souls of the people he played with...it was...and suddenly it all fell apart.
"No no no...Zoe, it's too hard and fast!"
"But I like hard and fast!"
"And I told you, we'd write a hard and fast song but this isn't that song. play the song we are playing"
"You keep saying that and we keep doing this pop stuff."
"Yeah, because that's what sounds good"
"To you maybe." Zoe pouted
Biffs eyes rolled..."here we go again"
