Karyn and Sarah were still outside Jon's house, and still unable to agree on a course of action.
"You're not SERIOUSLY suggesting we break into the house?" Karyn said.
"You have any better ideas? I'm not going to wait around any more. Your friend has the only means of cleaning up this whole mess!"
"Sarah, this is dangerous! What if the neighbors see us? What if Jon's family set the alarm?" Karyn protested.
"You've been in the middle of it! Even now some more of our friends could be getting turned into weirdos, or worse! After everything YOU'VE been through, I thought you would know this is worth the risk!" Sarah replied.
There was noise from within the house. It was the loud sound of a television with the sound turned all the way up.
Jon was still in the form of a fifteen year old girl with short red hair, dressed in a pink sweater with bunnies on it and a short skirt. The changes to her personality remained, so she was too scared to use the wishing stone. The wishing stone remained in a box hidden in Jon's closet, covered up with a pile of other things.
She could hear Karyn and Sarah shouting at each other outside, and she couldn't take it anymore. She ran downstairs to the living room, and turned on the TV. It was playing a daytime talk show. But Jon didn't really care about that, because she just needed something to drown out Karyn and Sarah.
She ran back upstairs to her room to hide. She didn't want anyone to see her. She hoped Karyn and Sarah would give up and go away. She didn't trust anyone with the wishing stone ... including herself.
"What's he doing in there?" Sarah grumbled, hearing the noise.
"He knows we're out here." Karyn said. "He doesn't want to see us or talk to us."
"That's HIS problem!" Sarah growled. She then walked off to circle the house to look for the best place to force an entry.
Karyn rushed up to Sarah and grabbed her.
"Sarah!" Karyn hissed. She lowered her voice to a whisper just in case the television noise inside wasn't enough to drown them out completely. "I know you're mad at Jon, and I don't blame you. But we can't go breaking in there without a plan."
Karyn paused for a moment, then continued. "Jon has a wishing stone, remember? He could wish us to leave any time. The fact that he's turning on TVs to drown us out means he's still too scared to use the stone. If we just charge in all yelling at him, that'll make him more scared of us than the stone. And if you think the Transformation Guns are scary, that's nothing compared to what happens when someone makes a bad wish."
Karyn decided not to mention her own mistake with the stone - the one that led to her having blonde hair and larger breasts. She had briefly mentioned that particular embarrassment to Sarah when she told her about the wishing stone, but now was not the time to bring it up again.
She went on. "This whole mess started because Jon wished for 'something interesting to happen' while holding the stone. If we get our hands on that stone, we'd better make our wishes a lot more specific than that."
"But we've got to get in there and get it first." Sarah replied. "If you're so smart, what's your big idea?"
"I don't know. I'm hoping we can just talk about it, come up with ideas, and go with whatever we think will work." Karyn said.
It was at that point that Sarah heard the 'text' tone from her cell phone. She looked at the text from Chris Morgan.
Chris: Randy and I found more weird ray guns. Going to principal's office. How are you?
Sarah sighed. She wasn't sure how to respond.
Sarah: Looking for way to stop this. If Nicole's in Principal's office, talk to her.
She got a response.
Chris: Got it. We clued Amber in. Tiffany got zapped and she's acting all weird.
Sarah's heart sank for a moment. She wasn't sure if she wanted to know.
"Things are still crazy at the school." Sarah said. "We'd better come up with something good, and it'd better be fast."
At that moment, the daytime talk show playing on the televisions inside the house was interrupted by a breaking news. "We interrupt this program for a breaking news story. The earlier reported robbery at Lake Point Mutual Bank in west Lake Point has taken an unexpected turn. Bizarre transformations have been reported occuring with..."
