The four girls continued chatting and giggling, but Jon didn't pay attention. His mind was on other things. He thought he'd gotten the hang of this new turn of events at some point in Sarah's car, but seeing Karyn as she was threw him again. She was perfect. PERFECT. She had Sarah's look and mannerisms, but was still the Karyn he knew and loved. As the group passed Neiman Marcus, Jon made the decision: he would ask Karyn out. He spent the rest of the walk to the food court working out in his head just how.
"I'll go save a table, you guys get food," Karyn offered.
"Perfect," thought Jon. "I'm with Karyn," he said possibly a bit too hastily.
Karyn found a round, 5-chair table and sat down, and Jon sat to her right. After a minute or so of working up the nerve, Jon made his move. He leaned over and put his left hand over Karyn's shoulders, pulling his right hand and the stone out of his pocket.
