"Laura?" Katie asked, surprised.
"Who da hell is Laura?" Jack asked, turning away from Sophia's closet momentarily. Devon was elsewhere in the house, looking for Sophia's ID and key-fob.
Katie was asking herself that...it felt like she wasn't supposed to know. "No one," she lied. "Laura...this isn't a good time....I'll call you later," she said.
"No...Katie...something is going on...I mean...."
"I'll call you back as soon as I can," she said, and hung up. "Someone I haven't seen in a long time...bad timing..." She turned off the phone.
Laura dialed the number back, and it went straight to voicemail. At least...Katie seemed to know her. She decided to head home and wait for someone.
Meanwhile, Nadine and Tina found themselves escorted by police over to night arraignment court. Neither of them had even known such a thing existed before now, but it was starting to seem more and more familiar to the two of them.
"I thought I told you I never wanted to see you here again," a woman said, coming over to them. "What's the story this time?"
"We didn't do anything...this is all a mistake," Tina insisted.
"Yeah, I've heard that before, Tina. From both of you. Do you want to end up in prison like your mom? It's not your first offense." She asked. Tina froze at that, but before she could respond, "Do you want to plead guilty and try for a reduced fine or claim innocence? Think about it...I have six cases up before you."
The officer sat them down to wait.
