Sunday was for church. There was a chapel on campus and there were a few people that attended. Due to this, there were two services. One of them was at 9 in the morning. The other was at 9 in the evening. Elijah preferred to go to the service in the morning. That way, his day was clear for the rest of the time. He could do whatever he wanted. Most of the frat members did not wake up until after 10 anyway. At the chapel, the priest was well aware of the environment he was preaching in. Many of the morning attendees came in their loungewear. Elijah at least put on some pants and a polo shirt. His parents would never forgive him if he did otherwise. After the service, he spent some time praying at his seat. The recent party and the other encounters he had since then had unsettled him. The matters of Locks and Keys was coming up in uncomfortable ways. The priest noticed him and circled back after he said his farewells to the others. "Is something bothering you, Elijah? You're usually one of the first to shake my hands at the door." he said very gently. Elijah looked up and turned to him.
Elijah sighed and said "Yes, Father McDougal. I've just been dealing with some things." Father McDougal smirked at him and said "Well, I have plenty of time if you'd like to talk about it. Father Makoto will be the one celebrating this evening." Elijah just rolled his eyes. He actually liked Father Makoto's sermons. It was more focused on practical things based on the gospel. Father McDougal was more about the historical significance about the particular passage each week. It made sense as he was also a history Professor at the humanities school. As a nursing student, he was predisposed to having practical lessons to help him operate better in his daily life. He said "I guess that I have something on my chest." The priest smiled and led Elijah to the back of the chapel. There was a wooden booth for confessions. Elijah sat down in his seat and began the session. He told Father McDougal about his discomfort about seeing the negative portrayal of Locks and Keys on t.v. He did not mention any of the names, but he talked about seeing someone selling powers for money. It bothered him.
Father McDougal rubbed his chin and thought about it. "You don't need to say if it makes you uncomfortable, but it seems to me that you might be a Lock or Key. Is that close?" he said. It certainly did make him a bit uncomfortable, but he was in confession now. Holding back was sinful. "Well, that... might be true." he said. "Hmm. Well, I know that you're a nice upstanding young man. Whether you are a Lock or a Key, you need to stay the course. I also know that you are in a fraternity on campus. That's good for companionship, but we all know that sometimes a band of brothers can get up to mischief." the priest said. Elijah nodded. There were plenty of times in the past and present he thought that they went a bit too far. He almost did not make it past the pledge stage because they wanted him to have oral sex with the preserved stag head that they had from one of the founders of the university. Every year it would be stolen and held in the frat house. Eventually, he was peer pressured into it since he was at the last step of the newbie hazing. Some of the fraternities went further than that.
