"So whats with you and that Goth chick?" Melissa asked Athena while the team had one of their Yog-Yog outings (that's yoga and yogurt for those who don't hang with the cool kids) They had just gotten done with the first part, Yoga, and Zoe had joined again, this time she had pants her own size which Athena had helped her pick out. Zoe seemed to enjoy it more than her last visit, but still didn't do much talking to the rest of the cheerleaders, she had opted out of the yogurt part of the outing, saying she was going to the "club" which she and Athena both knew meant the Spiked Pit, a goth club, but she didn't want to say that in front of the other girls.
"Oh she's cool, We've known each other for years, sort of lost touch and now we are hanging out again." Athena lied, she didn't want to explain the magic part of it, because none of them seemed to notice that stuff. They had come up with the story together one day when both circles of friends were specious of what was going on. The "old friends" thing gave them a reason to hang out, while the "lost touch" part explains why they were into both so different.
"It's sort of weird." Interjected Gladys, who had completed her transformation a week ago, before she was 235 with bad eye sight, fizzy hair, and a husky voice. Now she was the best looking girl on the team, a light 120 pounds with long brown hair blue eyes and a beaming smile. Her voice was the thing that made her so great though, it was sweet, peppy, and boy did she have pipes. She had found that not only could she get guys to do whatever she wanted by using her "sexy voice", but she also could use that on the field to lead cheers, and the crowd loved it. Sarah on the other hand had transferred schools, they had not heard or thought about her in weeks.
"Yeah, the Goth thing is a little freaky....does she you know...cut herself and whatever?" Jessica asked in a way that made it sound like Zoe drank it too afterwards.
"Naw she's just not into the whole girly thing. She likes her individuality."
"Well someone needs to tell her she's a girl." Gladys said, then a light went on in her head. "I know just the thing!"
(Oh dear) Athena thought.
We give her a make over and set her up on a date! That should help right? She's pretty enough, maybe she just needs a little push."
The rest of the group seemed to grab on to the idea. Athena had to admit, it might be a lot easier to be her friend if their wasn't this gap...Still she knew Zoe would absolutely hate it.
"There is no way this works, You guys are going to ruin my friendship with her, just please stay out of it."
Gladys would have none of it.
"Oh come on, we are not going to make her wear pink or anything, just give her some style tips and introduce her to someone. I'm sure Tom has a friend."
Athena began to turn red with embarrassment at the name of Tom. "Ok first off, me and Tom are not dating, it was just a thing..."
"You made out with him in a closet for 10 minutes last week, either your into him or you and Tiffany have been hanging out too much."
"Well that doesn't mean we're dating."
"Whatever, the point is that was awesome and you should be." Gladys began to text. "I'm texting his sister to see what she thinks."
Athena was so embarrassed she would do anything to change the subject.
"Please don't! I'll bring the make over thing up to Zoe, just please leave this alone." She wasn't sure how she felt about what happened with Tom, or how she felt about Tom. That night wasn't just making out in a closet. It was also her first kiss (that she remembered anyway, she got the feeling she had done it before, and according to Tom she was quite good at it. He certainly was.) It was something special to her and she wanted it to have meaning, she didn't want it to just be something fun to gossip about.
Gladys stopped texting. "Cool. Sometime next week then."
Athena was amazed, and Gladys was impressed, when had she become such a good manipulator? And how was she going to handle this new problem of bringing up a make over to Zoe?
