"Why? Looking to moonlight on the squad?" Zoe answered with a knowledge that Jen clearly didn't posses, clearly at least one of them was a cheerleader.
"No, nothing like that" Jen answered trying to cover, though an image of her in one of those outfits popped into her head. She knew she would look great in it, she knew she would be able to wow the crowd, but for the first time, cheerleading felt oddly beneath her.
"Nothing like being" Zoe started and then Jen found herself finishing "on the sidelines." and it made sense, she wanted to be on the court, she wanted the victory, not on the sides cheering someone else on, never getting the victory.
And then they laughed, like sisters. It was a great feeling, she could feel that they made a good team.
"Hey, we should leave for school soon, best start stretching so I don't finally beat you."
"Yeah, I need to get my shoes." Jen replied about to go...wait...were they going to run to school? and yet that didn't sound terrible, only losing to her sister did.
So Jen went about stretching and getting shoes on. The stretch felt great, like a coiled spring getting ready to release, she had never felt this strong, as in control when she was a man before. It made her wonder if they were wrong which gender was strongest.
She met a ready Zoe at the step of their house, her hair up, her backpack strapped tightly to her back.
Zoe asked one question before they left that stunned Jen though.
"One thing, is Athena like Apollo's sister or something? Everyone knows Apollo, but I didn't know he had a sister." And with that Zoe was off.
Jen had to really push herself to catch up after taking a second to put those pieces together.
