Jen headed out into the hallway and immediately knew that something was different. It was her sister Zoe. Normally, she could hear her metal music being played loud enough that she could hear it from the hall. Well, she was still playing her music loud, but it wasn't metal. Instead, it sounded like ... hip-hop?
Curious, she knocked on the door.
"Yeah?" came Zoe's voice. Not the usual "piss off" that she usually gave her, back when Jen was Jon.
Jen slowly opened the door and peeked inside.
"Oh, hey, sis," Zoe said, a lot more cheerily than normal. "What's up?"
Okay, yeah. Definitely a different Zoe. And her room was different too. Both her sister and her bedroom reflected the fact that she wasn't gothic in the slightest. In fact, Zoe's bedroom reminded Jen a lot of her own, in this new reality. But searching her new memories, Jen realized that that was because Zoe, too, was an athlete - a member of the girls' soccer team, actually. And like Jen was at volleyball, she was quite good at it. This new Zoe looked up to Jen instead of resenting her. Maybe that had something to do with Jen being a girl instead of a boy, or maybe because they were both athletes now. It was odd, though, right? That Zoe ended up being an athlete too? Whatever the reason, Jen much preferred this Zoe than the original one.
"Uh, what are you up to?"
"Just doing my homework. Nothing special."
Jen had to wonder what Zoe's social life was like now. She decided to ask. Though, for some reason, it didn't occur to her to just search her new memories for the answer. "Zoe, I was wondering ... do you know Athena DeVries and Zelda Whitefield?" In the previous reality, those were her two best friends, but also total Goths.
