"After we start getting some expeditions under our belt, we can make another tree. Then I can eat the peaches and get stronger than them. If the tree's in a public area, it'll be hard to trace to me." David promised.
Even that was not a fool proof plan. Sages could suss him out with basic competence. There were other trees that could be traced to him. The one at their master's forge was a prime example of this. He was the only Player there when it was planted. David even told his master about it. If Chris's mental outburst was to be believed, there were 2 other trees coming as well. Both Alec and Alex hid a fertilized pit somewhere. Depending on how well they were hidden those could also be traced to him. All the peaches were his devoted servants. It would all come down to how long it would take for the trees to grow and produce fruit. If he could eat some peaches before they caught onto the trees, he could flee the area and go somewhere beyond their reach. As long as he had one of the peaches with him, he could always make more trees. It would be a cat and mouse game. There were 9 in the city right now. Alec said "When that happens, use my pit." Finally discouraged from the paltry amount of donations, they decided to pull out the big guns. Most of the citizens were aware of the skills that bards had. A failure here would certainly not help with the drained coffers of the college. David hoped it went well. A School of Requiem expedition would be a good way to justify him getting stronger.
