As time went on, David got to meet his teachers. They were kind and resourceful. Because he was a member of the school, they were able to teach them all magic and skills specific to the Bardic school. They were also trained with weapons. David chose a shortsword and hand crossbow. There were some minor tasks within the college that he could do for exp. and coin. There were instruments to tune, lecterns to move about, and tables and chairs to set up for conferences and lecture halls. That was the firat in-game week of life in the college. After that, the faculty designated a space near the stables to be a smithy and set things up for them to work. From there, they were tasked to making the brass instruments out of actual brass and iron. Those were trumpets, horns, trombones, saxophones and tubas. David and the others were able to make very high-quality instruments. People praised them for it when they got it from the smithy. David was feeling pretty good about it all. "It's all in a day's work." he said. He asked one of his Requiem teachers when they would have an expedition.

Beazli Mabin, one the better professors shrugged his shoulders. There were no expeditions planned, because they were still planning out Zachary's school's trip. He was in the Herald school. The City of Babi did not value the services the college provided. It was also not like it was the best staffed in the world. Half of the schools were not even represented here. That made it really hard to justify patronage. When it came to the youthful elf, David sought him out and thanked him for the connection. Zachary asked David what school he was in. He smiled and said "I hope that we can make delightful music together one day." "Yeah. That would be cool. I really loved your show." he said. Bards of the Herald School master the art of oratory. Persuasion is regarded as a high art, and a well-reasoned, well-spoken argument often proves more persuasive than facts. Bards of this school wield a blend of logic and theatrical wordplay. Winning over skeptics and detractors with logical arguments and plucking at heartstrings to appeal to the primed emotions of their audiences was child's play.

Child's play was a good name for it. It was that simple. The Herald School did not appeal to David. Being a big debator was not something he found that interesting. The bards of this college are regarded with a mixture of awe and fear. Their performances are the stuff of legend. These bards are so eloquent that a speech or song that one of them performs can cause captors to release the bard unharmed and can lull a furious dragon into complacency. Power like that was hard to come by. The same potent magic that allows them to quell beasts can also bend minds. Villainous bards can leech off a community for weeks, misusing their magic to turn their gracious hosts into thralls that followed their every whim. Heroic bards of this college instead use this power to gladden the downtrodden and undermine oppressors. Zachary would really be a good ally if David needed someone to speak for him in times of trouble. Capturing the hearts and minds of people was nice. Being a singing, musical journalist with magic was also pretty cool. David was not upset with his ultimate choice of school.

It was actually pleasant that Alec was his sole roommate. While he was just as fanatic about David as the rest, he was really chilled out. He kept his distance and then all physical contact was done after getting permission. That told David that he was getting respect for his autonomy and personal space. One night, David was lying on his bed waiting for day to come. It was something that he was already used to doing. Usually, he just looked up to the ceiling and waited. Alec was on a bed on the opposite side of the room. Alec said "I really admire you." David blinked and turned to face him. Alec was laying on his side and smiling at him. "I'm just a peach, so I don't need to go to sleep. But you hardly ever sleep either and you're supposed to be human." David just shrugged and said "Listen. I'm a Devil. That's all it is." Alec shook his head. It was clear he was not convinced. "Maybe. But you only ate one of us at the tree. Bitey got a single bite out his ass. As far as Devils go, you're probably pretty weak." the peach refuted. "Compared to other Devils? It's fine. I don't want to be found quickly."
