Nobody spoke. "All right," Ken said, "time to get this show on the road. First off, I wish that Jon, Zoe, Mikey, and I have always been the sexes and relative ages we are now." She paused for a moment, looking around; nothing seemed amiss, so she continued.
"Next, I wish that Tina has always been a genetic female with a unique condition that caused her to be born with fully functional male genitalia." Again, nothing seemed to go wrong. "All right," Ken said, happy that things were going this well. "Now, I wish that Jon and Zoe were Tina's and my biological children."
Again, everything continued smoothly. "Next," Ken said, "I wish that Mikey was also our biological daughter, and that her being half-snake is a unique condition with no known explanation." That wish, too, passed without incident. "Now," she said, "I wish that the four of us who changed sex completely would have the new names we chose for ourselves."
Kirsten, formerly known as Ken, turned to Karyn. "Are you sure you want to go through with this?" she asked. Karyn nodded. "Okay," the older woman shrugged. "I wish that Karyn was eight years old."
Everyone present watched as Karyn began to change. Her curves flattened and her features softened as she shrank, her clothes falling off, piece by piece until she was left wearing her now-oversized shirt as a makeshift dress. A brief moment later, the change had finished, and she was a little girl - with blonde hair that now hung all the way down her back, as it hadn't shrunk with the rest of her. She pulled a few strands out of her eyes and chuckled. "Guess I'm gonna need a haircut," she said, her voice now changed to match her body.
Emily, the little girl who used to be Jon, rushed over and embraced her. "Thank you," she said, tearing up a bit. "Thank you so much! I don't know what I'd have done without you around."
"Likewise," the other little girl said, returning the embrace. "We're best friends for a reason, after all."
"Well," Kirsten said, smiling warmly, "we're almost done here. Just the school question and any last-minute requests before we put the stone away until we can decide what to do with it. Now, J-er, Emily and Karyn, before I make the wish, are you two really sure you want to be prodigies?"
