"Fine, but I'm telling Nadine to message us if you need us. We can stay near enough to come running if she thinks things aren't going well, okay?" Amy relented a little, but seemed the type that was protective of her friends.
"That's fine by me." Jon smiled back at them.
"What exactly do they want for it?"
"Isn't it obvious? Money probably," Amy said. "It's like a spy movie..." She said. "The phone is the hostage...and you are going to do it in a public place..."
He paused. She wasn't far from the truth. Which either meant his new friends might have a better plan than he did, or point out the obvious flaws. "Good guess."
"You aren't the only one whose smart, Jon," she said. "And you probably haven't seen as many spy movies as me." She paused "So, you need people who look like they belong there...But you can't have all of us...we'd attract too much attention. But why Nadine?"
"Probably because she wouldn't take no for an answer," Stacy said.
"And she's going to keep my little sister out of it..." Jon said. "She wants to be there too."
"Maybe you can just have the entire school there when the thief shows up?" Amy said.
"Yeah, like that will go well,' Stacy said.
"So,,,you have what they want, and they have what you want...how are you going to do the exchange?" Amy asked. "In the movies, the two individuals walk toward each other, then exchange the items."
He was hoping to stall for 2 minutes and let the universe solve the problem itself. But he probably needed a backup plan, especially since it had to be convincing. "This isn't a spy movie. It's just me getting my phone back from someone I don't trust."
