"How did you for get about the quiz? They're weekly, like a review of that weeks material. Haven't you gotten the highest mark for two months straight?" The newest girl seemed incredulous that it would slip his mind.

Jon knew the advanced placement courses went by different requirements than regular classes, but he hadn't expected this. He'd been made out to be some sort of academic, well versed in many subjects to the point he could tutor in any of them. He internally groaned at the pressure. If he stayed like this he wasn't sure he could handle this. Especially with Stephanie demanding he keep his grades up.

"Did you spend too much time with Tiffany yesterday and forget? I saw her dragging you through the school after classes ended, and you sure had a dopey look on your face. Don't tell me that you..." T-shirt girl teased before being interrupted.

"You're daydreaming if you think Jon did anything like that Amy. Tiffany would be bouncing off the walls telling everybody how she'd gotten closer to her "destined one" or whatever if they did anything. Nadine told me a little about your phone being stolen Jon. I won't let some people ruin your good name." The newest girl scolded the one named Amy.

Jon remembered how Tiffany was talking back in Principal Morse's office after it stopped being her office. Of how she loved him and they were meant to be together. She'd used that kind of language since her change actually. He still wondered how much of her affection was from the wish, and if any of it was from her original life.

"Your phone was stolen? I'm so sorry to hear that. Have you reported it to the police?" Emma asked nervously.

"I should be able to get it back this afternoon with some help. Tiffany, Nadine and a few others are backing me up on it." Jon explained.

"Why would you need backup?" The newest girl gave him a worried look. He knew they were all wondering what sort of mess he had made.

"The person who has my phone wants something in exchange for returning it. I'm not expecting anything to happen, but witnesses help in case they try anything." Jon wasn't sure how much to say. He barely knew these girls, and didn't want to get them involved in the blackmail scheme.

"Well if you need some help why didn't you ask us? Emma, Stacy and I can be there to back you up." Amy nodded to the other girls. Jon was relieved he finally had all their names.

"They might feel threatened if I have a big group with me. I just want to get my phone back as peacefully as I can."

"That makes sense. They could refuse to return it, or do something more drastic. Better to be safe." Emma spoke up, and Jon was happy for the assist.

"Fine, but I'm telling Nadine to message us if you need us. We can stay near enough to come running if she thinks things aren't going well, okay?" Amy relented a little, but seemed the type that was protective of her friends.

"That's fine by me." Jon smiled back at them.

They were a nice group of friends. Supportive and kind, but they'd been other people the day before. How many swaps had each of them done? What families did they belong to now? He only just learned their first names. He couldn't help wondering who they had been before.
