Motioning over to them, he got up and delivered the coal from the guild hall. He looked at them and said "Thanks. This is really going to help out with all of the nails and horseshoes." David nodded. "We'll be on our way now." he responded as he turned to walk down the street. The peaches followed him. "This is the 4th job we've done. It was pretty easy. That means we only need to do one more." Alec said. Alex nodded and added "Then one of the smiths will have to take us on." David said "Let's go for a blacksmith. It will be a good career then. I want to be able to make weapons." They agreed and they continued walking. Some bandits appeared, but they were quickly killed. The group made their way back to the city a full day ahead of schedule. We got the receptionist to give us the reward. David was going to go for the next guild task right away. He wanted to be done with the grunt work. As a true novice, he would not be sent around doing all sorts of dumb chores. Instead, David and his fellow chosen apprentices would be under the direct tutelage of the master smith. You learned from them.

No more runs out of the city. The members could still do so for bonus cash if needed. However, it was seen as unseemly and desperate to not be able to rely on one's own craftsmanship. The final task for the quest was to give a good amount of gold to a goldsmith in the merchant's district. They made jewelry for the upper classes and those with the massive amounts of coin to afford it. Of course, wheeling large amounts of gold around was a big risk for security. Thieves would definitely want to take it for themselves. He knew from the developer's notes before the release of the game that there was probably a major thieves' guild in the city. Most large cities had one to certain extent. Several of the thieves appeared from the alleys and began to chase after us. David and his minions killed them all in the street and continued on their way to the forge. Some of the blood was on the gold from the deaths of the criminals. The goldsmith's novice accepted it. He saw the blood and gave a wry smile. "I guess all of the gold was in safe hands, huh?" he said with a small chuckle to break the tension.

Only silence followed. David looked at him and said "As safe as it needed to be. Hopefully, we will now get a good master so we won't have to do anything like that stuff again." The novice just nodded and took the barrel of gold into the forges. It was time to report back to the receptionist. Once we got there, people were already waiting for us. Quinn, Chris, Bitey, Henry, Jimmy and Maria were all there. "These guys wouldn't go in for the Guild Novice certificate until you guys got here." Henry said with his arms crossed. "We are here for him. That's all that is, dumbass." Chris snapped. Henry just rolled his eyes. "What are you going for, Joe?" Bitey asked. "I was going to be a blacksmith." David said. Seeing their reaction he held his hands up and said "Not all of you need to be blacksmiths. In fact, if you all try to be blacksmiths, it will be harder for me to chosen. You guys are too amazing." That got them all arguing on who would be blacksmiths. David groaned and held his head in his hands. Henry took the initiative and tapped Maria on the shoulder. "Come with me. My dad is a silversmith."

It was obvious from the way she glared at him that she was not in the mood to even entertain him. However, it was the perfect chance to get rid of her. "Wow. That's so great, Maria. You should do that." David said with a large grin on his face. His voice has as happy as he could force it. She looked at him and blinked. "Well... if you think that would be for the best. I can become a silversmith to help you." she said with uncertainty thick in her voice. The look of nervousness did not sway him. Henry smirked nicely. In his haughty mind, he got a great acquisition on his hands. Jimmy looked at the others. "You guys are all pretty loyal to Joe. It's pretty cool to see. Don't tell me he's a minor noble's bastard son or something." he teased. They looked at him with just as much disdain, but he only looked at David. David shook his head. "If anything, they're the ones from a strong clan. They just like me for taking them here with me." That was all he said as he began to enter the guild hall. After they followed him to the desk, they all got the Guild Novice certificates. Henry took Maria to his father's forge.
