By coincidence, at roughly the same time Sarah was at the mall, Gladys Brewer was not far away.
As befitted a popular girl like her, she was followed by an entourage. But it was not the same as Sarah's entourage before. Just because Gladys now had Sarah's personality and lifestyle did not mean she was Sarah. There were differences.
For one, Sarah had been in the midst of a relationship with Biff Meadows. Gladys just didn't find him appealing.
Gladys paused suddenly, nearly upsetting the group. A chill had just gone up her spine. She'd had this sudden odd feeling that something was very wrong. Then, as quickly as it came, it vanished.
"What's wrong?" Her friend asked her.
"Nothing," she said, and they all promptly forgot about it. After all, what could be wrong? Everything was as it always was.
