Officer Danielle Chase paused as the shimmering barrier moved a few feet back. "And its growing." She looked around. "Where is everyone?" She mused. There were parked cars, but the street seemed oddly quiet.
The street was a single block of commercial stores that stretched out behind them...where they couldn't go, with a convenience store, a laundromat, and a few other businesses occupying a block. Beyond that were houses.
Suddenly, both officers began to feel dizzy. Danielle looked around with a sudden clarity as something clicked inside her. She understood what was going on. She knew what was happening.
She didn't even have to think about it for a second. She blinked, and brought a hand to her face, looking at the clawed fingers. She purred softly, and contentedly. She had a job to do still.
