Karyn was watching the practice, she was stopping for a breather and some water. Her first practice after Chloe had finally convinced her to join the volleyball team.
She found herself watching Chloe. Noticing Chloe. Her breasts in their sports bra, the way they bounced as she ran and jumped for the ball. How had she never noticed that Chloe had such nice boobs... and that figure... She stopped herself, that was her best friend, don't look at her that way... but another part of her came back with... but she is very cute and... The realization hit Karyn light a bolt of lightning: she liked Chloe, as in liked her, liked her.
The realization knocked her mind out of balance: should she confess? Ask her on a date? Ask her to go out after practice and try to turn it into a date? What should she do? She was a bit out of it the rest of practice, her eyes kept going to Chloe. Her thoughts went 'round and 'round.

Chloe couldn’t believe it. The girl she had known since the second grade, the girl she’d managed to convince to join her on the volleyball team, was on a date with her.
Even if the date was just frozen yogurt.
She was thrilled; when Karyn had asked her, she had been taken aback at first, but with the idea laid out, she found that she liked it, wanted it. It made her wonder what prompted Karyn to ask. How long had she been interested?
They got their yogurts and walked around to find a place to sit and enjoy them. There was a park next to the frozen yogurt place, which seemed like a good place to go on a warm early autumn afternoon. They walked along the path, just enjoying each other's company, until they found a bench.
“I’ve known you so long, but as I watched you during practice… I felt like I was seeing something new in you,” Karyn explained. What she was not going to mention was that seeing that started with Chloe’s boobs in a sports bra while she ran and jumped for a ball during practice. It did end with a sudden realization that she liked Chloe. “I… Well, I spent the rest of practice working up the nerve to say something… And it’s such a nice day.”
“You know?” Chloe had feelings welling up inside of her. “I… I didn’t… I wouldn’t have thought I… felt the same way about you,” she explained haltingly, “until you asked… Then, I… well, I knew the only answer I could ever give was yes.”
Karyn placed a hand on Chloe’s cheek and gently pulled so that she was looking at her. She slowly drew her face closer to Chloe’s, head tilted, readying for a kiss. Chloe let her; when their lips met, Chloe returned the kiss. It felt right, like she had wanted it for years, like it was the best thing to do right now. Karyn’s arm dropped and moved behind, and the kiss became an embrace. Chloe found herself reciprocating.
