Karyn couldn't believe the phone call she just had. "Why in the world would Jon wish he was a girl?" So many.. curious possibilities on that. Not that she minded. If Jon wanted to have a little experience on her side of the world, why not? Maybe there were girls curious about being boys? It- seemed a strange thought to Karyn, though.. she couldn't help but think this had to be an accident. Jon never gave any indication he was.. well
Finally she was at the door of her friends house. "Jon?" she knocked. "I'm here! Are you okay?"
There was no answer for a moment. Karyn's heart pounded in her chest and finally the door opened- "wow!" Karyn gasped. "Jon?"
Jon made a face. "I- yeah-" She mumbled upset.
"So.. you've been a girl for about a half hour and now you're pregnant?!"
Jon groaned as she looked down at her stomach. It had the swellings and indications of a pregnancy. She groaned a bit as he shifted her position. "I don't think it's a real pregnancy." She explained. "It's more just- magic? I don't know I found I can make it disappear but then- other stuff happens." She tried to explain as she sat down. Her clothes strained by her belly.
"So- you can will it away? Well.. why don't you try?"
Jon sighed and at a thought, started to 'will' her pregnant belly away. It took a moment and slowly the pregnancy effect appeared to go away. However this was suddenly replaced by an increase in the size of Jon's breasts. Karyn watched in amazement as Jon spots of liquid appeared on her chest!
"Holy- Jon are you-"
"Urgh! See? It's like- no matter what I do-" she groaned as she willed her breasts as well to go away reaching their normal state.
Karyn observed Jon a little longer and perhaps a bit fearful. "Are you um- you okay now?" She looked like a normal girl.
"No I feel nauseous now. I'm burning up!" she groaned.
Karyn felt her head and it was like she was having a hot flush of some kind. Jon looked quite ill now, as she seemed to be suffering physically. Finally it got too much for Jon as the pregnant belly returned. At once, Jon started to feel a lot better. "Man- Jon- what did you wish for!"
"I just- something interesting to happen!" She explained. "What happened to me?"
A voice suddenly appeared from the window. "Hey! I can explain if you want."
Jon and Karyn glanced to the side. A young fairy was there? A small woman with cute transparent wings! She fluttered over to the table casually in her strange green dress, barefoot- then gave a bow. "Heya!"
"Who- what are you!?" Jon gasped.
"In trouble," the fairy admitted. "I shouldn't be talking to you really, but when weird things happen I suppose I'm just too curious. You can call me Jennifer." She said with a sweet smile. "So Jon, do you have the stone? Let's have a look at it and maybe we can work out this mystery..."
"Wait Jon- can we trust her?" Karyn eyed her susicipicously. "She just wondered in here knowing all about the stone-"
"I know a lot about a lot of things," said Jennifer. "You want a magic expert? You got one." She crossed her arms. "So come on Karyn-"
"How do you know my name?!"
The fairy but her lip. "I- I've been watching the two of you for a while- it's a fairy thing before you get too upset."
Jon and Karyn glanced at each other but.. it seemed like they had no choice. Jon very cautiously walked into her room. Her pregnant belly swaying a bit with each step. The fairy settled onto Jon's shoulder and looked somewhat.. empathic at her predicament. There was something oddly familiar about those eyes..
Finally back in her room, with karyn following after them, Jon grabbed the stone. "Here.. I can't seem to make any wishes on it.."
The fairy looked the stone over. "Just give me a minute..." she started to say words- words of magic no less. Jon watched in awe as the fairy glowed, and the odd energy going into the stone. Lines began to appear around the surface. They started to curl into a circle, like that of a shell on a snail. Occasionally the line would flash with a star... "These lines.. are the history of wishes.. of the stone we can learn the most by which god created it just need to go far back enough..."
"Which.. god?" Jon asked. "How-"
The fairy looked at each pulse of light.. One thousand years.. two thousand years.. five thousand "I can't give you a history on how these stones are created.. there are stones created by mortal hands.. the Merlin the Fey.. The Gods.. fortunately I've yet to encounter a Stone created by a Devil- though that's probably where Genies- ah uh?!" The stone was going back even further then she had ever seen! "This.. was not created by the fey.. this goes before that concept..."The lines continued to go back.. A million years? Two million? Finally, after aeons, the lines formed a symbol of three intricate circles. All joined together at the middle. "Oh.. sh-"
"What is it? What does that mean?" Karyn asked glancing to Jon in concern as she clutched her swollen belly.
The fairy cringed a bit. "Uh- it's the Triple Goddess probably the oldest goddess possible to create the stone. She glanced to Jon again. "Okay! Well- now we have at least some idea of what's going on. The good news is, reality is -not- about to tear itself apart. We can relax!" She cleared her throat actually quite relieved of that. She drew her small finger to the symbol. "So basically when one of these stones are made, the primary 'force' behind the magic takes precedent. If it was created by a trickster, you get monkey paw wishes. If it was created by a human's will, you get.. a reasonably benign stone- at least as benign as human will- eh it's complicated." She scratched her head moving her antenna.
"So what exactly is this stone? Who created it? Is Jon stuck like that?!" Karyn demanded to know!
Jennifer tapped the stone. "Basically, the stone's power discharged itself. It can't make any more wishes until all the pieces get back together. Jon took on the 'mother' aspect of the goddess. She'll have magic! Real powerful magic You've got the power to heal, and spread life where it otherwise could not be."
"..gross." Jon frowned. "Why do I have a- a-" she glanced down at her stomach.
"Well- first of all, 'Mother' Goddess." Jennifer reminded with emphasis. "Gods appear as they are and can't hide their nature. So you have to show at least some.. 'sign' of er- that." The fairy blshed slightly.
"How do I make it- Ah- Oh God it kicked me!" Jon gasped.
"On the plus side, fixing this is quite easy. You just need to find the other aspects of the goddess. One will be a young maiden possibly a child, the other will be older and mature have all three touch the stone at once and the magic of the stone will be restored. So long as you're all willing that wont be a problem. The magic that created the stone is in there."
"Oh, so easy." Karyn groaned. "What kind of magic will these others have?"
"I'm.. not so sure." Jennifer admitted as she took out a -very- small book. "We can probably expect the elder one- the crone will have incredible control of her local environment.. power of the elements, extreme intelligence, wisdom and death." She paused sadly at that not really liking indeed disliking that anyone can use magic in such a way. It went against many ideals
"..and the other one?" Jon asked.
"The child..." Jennifer nodded. "In some ways, even greater power but unpredictable. Held to the mercy of subconscious desires you can expect her to be quite young, and.. likely a reality warper. Her power will be based strongly on the depths of her emotions. As long as she's calm and happy, she shouldn't be a problem."
"So all we have to do.. is all three of us touch this stone and we'll be back to normal."
"Yep-" then the fairy was interrupted by a strange.. ringing sound. She groaned and lifted her hand as a magical blink of light a. mobile phone appeared? "Yeah what? yes I'm talking to him! I don't care he needs- It's not going to be a paradox! If you guys actually paid attention to how the magic worked- yes I'm coming over now." The fairy sighed. "Okay so I might be in a bit of trouble, but I hope I helped you out a bit Jon. Just.. take care okay?" She smiled.
Jon looked down at the fairy. "Thanks.. I guess. At least we know what's going on."
"My pleasure."
