A ridiculous sight was before me. It was Timmy staring back at me. He was a full 3 inches taller and had more muscle tone, but it was practically him. Seeing this shit now kind of pissed me off. There were some other changes to consider as well. The avatar had snow white hair and lime green eyes. It was a choppy, jagged bob haircut with really straight hair down to his shoulder. In the avatar's mouth were a full row of sharp shark teeth. I sucked my teeth in annoyance. For some reason or another, I was wearing some sort of uniform. It was a polo shirt and khaki pants. There were sneakers on my feet and the surrounding building looked way too modern to be a part of a medieval fantasy setting. From all the sinks and stalls behind me, I was in a bathroom. Leaving, my body turned left by itself and turned down a hallway. Something told me that I was not going to be able to meet up with Suzie anytime soon. My body reached for a door and I went inside a dimly lit lecture hall. It looked big enough to hold 200 people. My avatar decided to sit down in the middle row 7 seats off the center.

Being on the right side of the room, I could see all the seats being filled up. When every seat in the lecture hall was full, a full minute passed before what appeared to be a police officer decided to walk to the front of the room. A split second appeared before everyone in the room stood up to salute him. I was up saluting him as well. "At ease, cadets." he said. We all relaxed and took our seats again. From there the officer at the front began a presentation on a projector. Apparently, we were police cadets in a futuristic setting. The city was called Neo-Idia and we were the ones that have passed the initial boot camp and background checks. All of us had gotten the job. We just needed to see where we were going to end up. The population of the city was 6.9 million people. There were thousands of people across the city that wanted to be a cop and we were the top 10%. That meant we would be the incoming supervisors and detectives. That was pretty cool of us. The city's police department had 9 divisions: Patrol, Traffic, Homicide, Vice, Arson, Bunco, Burglary, Special Vehicles, and SWAT.

Calling each one out by name, the officer told us which each one did for the city. A police officer could serve many functions. The Patrol Department is concerned with the monitoring of assigned geographical areas in Neo-Idia, offering quick response to street crimes such as petty theft and hit-and-runs which require relatively little direct investigation, as the culprits will usually be caught in the act. The Traffic Department is a section of the NIPD concerned with hit-and-runs, felony driving, and car burglaries. The Traffic crime desk also investigates vehicular manslaughter and murder cases, and collision reports involving serious injuries or fatalities where a car may be involved. The Homicide Department is concerned with the investigation of murders within the city. The Administrative Vice Department, also known as Vice Narcotics is concerned with offenses involving prostitution, drugs, and overt obscenity. The Arson Department is concerned with maliciously, voluntarily, and willfully setting fire into buildings, or property of another or burning one's own property for an improper purpose.

I was losing my ability to pay attention. I hoped the lecture would end soon. Bunco, also known as the Fraud Division of the NIPD, is responsible for investigating fraud and other white-collar crimes. The Burglary Department of the Neo-Idia Police Department investigates robberies involving private homes, home invasions and thefts. It was reaching the final stretch. Special Vehicles was a support group that provided back up by operating vehicles that aided in investigations or pursuit of subjects. Those included carriers, buses, paddy wagons, helicopters, and even some mounted officers on horses. SWAT was the most interesting. Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) is a law enforcement unit in the city that uses specialized military weapons and tactics to deal with high-risk situations and emergencies. Because this was a futuristic fantasy setting, SWAT members got mechas, energy guns and blades, as well as battering rams, halogen tools, ballistic shields, and stun grenades. Only the top 10% of this room would be allowed to join the Swat team. We needed a final selection for that.
